Hotel room was great!
from kokwlwFriendly Hotel; Good Location
from SianywantsatardisThe hotel is very near to the Termini Station (5 minute walk) which meant that we could get any bus or metro to any tourist attraction easily.
The hotel is in a nice road above Termini. The location was quiet but there was a handful of reasonably priced restaurants in the same road with outside seating areas. Also there are a couple of very nice cafes which sold a good selection of cakes and sandwiches, and were very friendly and helpful.
There is also a supermarket and a self service restaurant quite close to the hotel.
All the main sights are in relative walking distance appart from the Vatican, although we found it better to go by bus and walk back.
Hotel:
The hotel is very nicely decorated with an antique style, but is very bright and welcoming.
We stayed in rooms overlooking the small central courtyard. We had a double room which was quite large and luxuriously decorated, the large bathroom had a jacuzzi bath and there were tea making facilities.
My daughter had a smaller room which although was nicely decorated, with a double bed, was quite small. Because there were renovations in progress on her floor, she couldnt open the shutters because of scaffolding which made the room quite dark (but this is probably not a problem now!).
Staff:
The reception staff were very friendly, and helpful, when we needed directions they gave us a map and took the time to explain thoroughly. If we wanted a tour booked they organised it for us. Our luggage was taken to our rooms and brought down from our rooms when leaving and they stored our luggage in a safe and secure room on arrival and departure. The cleaning staff were thorough.
The staff in the breakfast room greeted us on arrival, showed us to our seats, rapidly plied us with tea or coffee and ensured the food was always full stocked.
Final Thought:
For the first time in Rome we couldn't have picked a better venue. Would definately use again and would recommend.
Good hotel, convenient location
from A TripAdvisor MemberYou will not get any sleep here!
from A TripAdvisor Member1. The first night we were dumped at a hotel over the road as there was a 'problem' with our room. I felt we were simply unexpected!
2. Noise - can't say too much about this except you get plenty.
3. Sleep - can't say too much about this except you will not get much.
4. Staff - crap at Reception but the cleaners/dining room staff are much better.
Very Disappointing
from jahowyaThe location of the hotel is good - near the train station which gives access to everywhere very easily, but it was difficult to enjoy our stay when we couldn't sleep well with the heat, and given the poor atmosphere in the hotel.
We have stayed four times in other three star hotels in Italy and they were wonderful. This certainly wasn't.
Pretty good
from antoinette_fBoth rooms had Jacuzzi. In both rooms ventillation (or was it air conditioner?) was _very_ noisy and loud, so we turned it off. But in summer one might need it - please note.
Rooms and the whole hotel are clean, service is good and staff helpful.
Breakfast, though cold, was far above average for budget hotels. I have chosen this hotel for its convenient location and would recommend it especially for single travelers who arrive from airport by train to Termini station.
friendly hotel
from MackemNice hotel with friendly and helpfull staff.
Clean rooms and large enough bathroom.
As much as you can eat breakfast.
Easy to get to from the termin station.
Only downside was that we requested 2 double rooms and we got two twin bed rooms.
I would consider this hotel again especially for the price, but would also look for a more centrall located hotel for the sights and night life
Excellent Hotel at a fantastic price
from manastaan ok stay
from pontyclunHotel Alpi was okay, the room (we had a family room cos we took the kids) was big and spacious. Wooden block flooring and high vaulted ceilings, nicely decorated and very clean. The bathroom was small but had all you needed.
The room had a mini bar with reasonable prices and a free safe.
Staff were okay, some reviews are not complimentary about te staff but theres not much converstaion with their limited English and our limited Italian.
Breakfast was good unlimited buffet with a good choice.
Located very near Termini Station which is good for arrivaldeparture and getting busses/metro to travel around whilst there. Maybe to far to walk to St Peters Sq. (Well it was with the kids) Good bar & Trattoria adjacent with othr places nearby.
We'd stay there again.
t bother
from A TripAdvisor MemberThis despite me printing out their 'special offer' page and showing it to them. They just asked me to follow up with my reservation agency.
Even without this problem, there isn't anything to recommed this hotel.
The location is not very nice though it is conveniently close to the main train station (Termini) and there is a grocery store, couple of self-service laundries, internet shops and restaurants nearby.
Our corridor (second floor) had a funky, stale odor. The shower head was leaking, the flush had to be coaxed into doing its job. The a/c was working but barely. Our room faced the street and so there was street noise as well. The staff wasn't rude but not very professional. Every time i asked them about the promotion, they'd put it off and say that there must have been some mistake etc.
We stayed in three stars in four other cities in europe (including florence and venice in italy) and every one was much better than this one.
Top Local Tips for Rome
Visit Italy for Christmas We saved 1/2 on airfare by traveling to Italy over Christmas. We visited Venice, Florence, Pisa, Rome, Pompeii and Positano. We didn't have to fight throngs of tourists and We never stood in line for any attraction other than the Vatican museums/Sistine Chapel. The weather was nice 50-75 deg. It is probably the most speical christmas we will remember. We didn't have family or friends there but we had a great time together as a family. If you rent a car to get around watch out - Italians drive like maniacs! I recommend the extra insurance offered. We drove to each city, parked the car in a garage and walked everywhere.
transfers If travelling to Rome with Easyet or Ryanair, don't get the Terravision bus - get the Bus shuttle from Ciampino directly to termini and save 2 euro each way.
