The Albani was nice hotel with art deco styled rooms that were very clean and comfortable. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. The hotel is located on a very narrow side street that does not allow for large tour busses to go down so many of the elderly in our group had difficulty with the short walk to the coach. The breakfast room was well organized and provided an assortment of both hot and cold buffet items. The marble bathrooms are beautiful.

Top Local Tips for Rome

Using buses Before you go make sure you have a good guide book with a bus route on (essential). Then buy a daily ticket for 4 euros at a tabacchi,. As soon as you get on your first trip you must validate the ticket by inserting into the machines on the back or front of the bus. Enter buses through rear doors, exit through central ones. Not sure how accurate this is but we think that the bus stops at main stops indicated by red rectangles around the names at the bus stops signs. Then if you press the stop buzzer on the bus it will stop at intermediate stops if requested (sometimes these are literally metres apart) The buses are clean, modern, air conditioned (newer ones) regularand efficient. The Italians don't believe in good signposting (we got lost getting to the Vatican - No 1 italy tourist spot badly signposted!!!) so you have to be careful and cross reference different maps.
