I have travelled the world probably more than most, there is very little I have not come across in my too many years.
My wife and I decided on a late holiday to Garda and had the Hotel Astoria recomended to us by a very fussy friend; she is not easily pleased but has stayed in this hotel twice; that is praise indeed!.
The rooms are on the small side but they are only to sleep in, we don't holiday to stare at walls. The food is varied and well presented, if you like chips with everything and full English breakfast go elsewhere.
Part of the fun of visiting foreign places is to try the local food and drink.
The staff are excellent, helpful, with a sense of humour and polite. The cleaners keep the hotel immaculate, my wife is a houseproud woman of the "old school" and if she says a room is clean you'd better belive it!
Why did it not get 10/10? because I like coffee after dinner and I object to having to pay extra for this, the wine is included though.

Top Local Tips for Riva del Garda

Don't be on a diet when you visit Riva Two restaurants to recommend in Riva: 1. Bella Napoli - authentic Napolitan Pizza, amorphous but delicious; 2. La Montanara - good, simple local cuisine, charming staff. As for ice cream, it's delicious everywhere, but in particular at the gelateria artigianale on the lakeside right next to the clock tower.

Storro Great Places around Riva, people re very nice & it was quiet cheapon the pocket too!
