Top Local Tips for Riomaggiore
The hotel (as is the entire area) is on a Steep Hill The lovely folks at this hotel have a luggage elevator which was very imporant for this area - make sure you have one too
Walks Make sure you boat betwee the 5-terre. Also a walk up to the church on top of the hill (~35-45mins, steep) has great views. SCUBA diving is an option - rocky seascapes and some nice big fish. Be sure to get to the beach (rocky) also for some R&R if the weather is nice. Locals will be out covered in oil, burning away!
Getting there in comfort! Don't bother with a car....you will just find it a hassel. Use the local trains and buses. Best to purchase a Cinqueterre card that will give you unlimited travel on train and electric buses in each village of the Cinqueterre villages. Use the electric bus to get up to the room from the train station....it is not far but with bags it is a steep climb.
