Fabulous stay for my wedding party
from reebeet82Antonio,
Jeremy and I are back from Italy and wanted to thank you for everything with regards to our wedding holiday.
First, I have to say, that EVERY member of my wedding party wants to come back to your hotel, to first see you and your wonderful family, and second to stay at your lovely hotel again!! From your tireless help in assuring every detail was ready for our arrival, to makeing every member of my family felt like part of yours, planning accomidations for my wedding party was a pleasure. I can assure you we will be back as soon as we are able.
I will absolutly pass the name of your hotel to anyone interested in staying in the area.
Jeremy and I hope you are well, and truly look forward to staying at the hotel and meeting you again when we come back for our wedding anniversaries.
Thank you!! Thank you!!
-Tracy
Wonderful experience
from jimboadiosWhen we arrived, not knowing what to do with our car, a staff member appeared at the portal to the former convent and unloaded our bags and took away the car. Our room was ready despite an early arrival and Antonio, the energetic manager of the family run hotel, walked us to our room. He later provided us with bus and ferry schedules and directions to any thing of interest in Ravello which is a lovely town, easy to walk around.
Drinks are available at any time on the balcony overlooking the rugged coastline and dinner is served on an outdoor patio, again with beautiful views. Breakfast is served in an open air sun room. Dinner and breakfast are included in the room rate and both are good (wine with dinner is extra. I suggest the house red as a good table wine.)
Our room and bath were good sized, simple and clean and came with a small balcony overlooking the beautiful garden in the cloister.
The hotel is a 10 minute walk to the main piazza and the bus stop down to Amalfi (15 minute ride). There is a little grocery store 50 meters away where fruit, wine, cheese and water can be bought until about 10pm. The hotel also provided free internet access via a computer in a lounge. Antonio also permitted me to print out our air tickets on the hotels private printer.
If you want a quiet, beautiful location on the Amalfi coast which is reasonably priced and has excellent service the Hotel Parsifal would be a great choice.

Outstanding service in a gorgeous setting!
from KJA3I stayed in the hotel's only single room - a small room with a tiny bathroom; comfortable furnishings; and a wonderful, deep window with a breathtakingly magnificent view. As Antonio noted, the room might begin to feel a bit cramped if one were to stay there for more than a few days, but it was more than sufficiently comfortable for a few days. At day's end, I could sit by "my" window (or on a small landing outside the room, or in the cloister) to watch the changing light. The stillness of the night was occasionally broken by the sound of a car - or a man walking his mule - on a nearby road. Wonderfully relaxing!
My room rate included half board, so in addition to a breakfast buffet that included a nice array of delicious foods, I ate two dinners at the Parsifal. Prepared with very fresh ingredients, both were good - one was especially memorable. In both cases, the service was excellent. I also enjoyed the wine that bears the hotel's label.
I hope to return to Ravello one day, and if I do so, I will definitely try to stay at the Hotel Parsifal again!
Great Value
from CanadianinwoluweThe dilemma of looks vs personallity...
from CHG30The very friendly Italian on reception welcomed us warmly, and then informed us that as they had known we would be arriving late ( after directing us a number of times on the phone..'we're lost again..'), they had made us a cold plate of supper each. He showed us to the empty restaurant where a table for two had been laid, and some wonderful cold meats, cheeses, vegetables and salad had been prepared for us. Washed down with a glass of wine it diffused a stressful evening..and was a thoughtful and greatly appreciated gesture on their part.
We were staying in room 31, with a terrace overlooking the sea.
The room was large, and clearly had a new bed ( firm, immaculate white sheets), and also new wardrobe. Some of the other furniture was a little tired. The bathroom was old and needed replacing, the sink was cracked and overall it had a very retro feel. Would you describe it as shabby chic? I positively asked husband. ' No' - 'more shabby than chic' he said..'
That said, I would stay here again. The terrace outside the room was great, if a bit rickety ( and some snoring sounds late one night did indicate someone might be sleeping on it..) But what really makes this hotel is the staff. They were so helpful. Mindlessley we had booked a trip to Capri and given no thought to where we would leave our car - no problem - Antonio and the crew sorted that out - even though parking for non residents was a nightmare. They also stored all our extra luggage so we could take a smaller bag away with us - and we didn't even ask us to pay the bill until we returned.
The hotel is perched overlooking the sea high in Ravello, set slightly away from the main town - it's a short walk. Breakfast is pretty basic continental fair, but the restaurant has superb sea views. We had booked half board, so ate dinner there both nights, and whilst it wasn't the best food we had on our trip, it was perfectly acceptable authentic Italian fare.
This hotel has had a number of good reviews on this site, which is why we booked it. The staff are wonderful and are what gives the place it 's true personality and makes you feel valued and special. However, it is worth noting that if you like designer style rooms with super bathrooms this probably isn't the place for you. For full on opulence ( at opulent prices,) book into the Palasso Strasso up the road. But don't miss out on Ravello, because it's magic - the connoisseurs Amalfi coast.
Fantastic Hotel
from kuki1The Hotel is in a wonderful quite setting as you can see from the pictures and the view is magnificent. The main square is only a short walk away but just sitting on the balcony overlooking the view form the Parsifal is as good a way as any to enjoy this amazing coastline.
The food in the restaurant is also very good and well priced, link this with service that is second to none and you can’t loose by staying here.
We are back in Ravello in August and have 3 rooms booked at the Parsifal. The rooms are authentic and very clean making staying here an absolute joy.
Super staff, service and meals
from mikemoAntonio, Leonardo, Rafael and the chef brother were all amazing.
Would definitely return to Ravello (much better than Amalfi and Positano for our needs) and Hot Parsifal.
Serial upgrades are planned for the off season(s).
Drove from Taormina, but used the 1 Euro bus to Amalfi and the ferries there. Easy drive to Pompeii and Rome (FCO) for flight to JFK.
Beautiful views from nice room.
from nola44Ravello is such a beautiful town. We were glad we chose it over other Amalfi Coast locations because it was quiet and friendly and not super touristy feeling. We enjoyed sitting at the piazza and watching the local children run around and play while their mamas and papas chatted away. We would definitely stay in Ravello and at the Parsifal again since the Sasso, Palumbo and Cimbrone are way out of our budget!
Amazing hotel - you must stay here!
from AmyDicksonRavello is an amazing place, although watch out for the car journey if you get car sick as very twisty! The taxi drivers are very experienced however - ask for Salvatore if booking a transfer with the hotel - a lovely guy!
If you want a chilled out holiday with excellent food and drink then Ravello is for you - no chavs, and no nightlife, this really is a great place.
The staff at the Parsifal are amazing - nothing is too much for them, and every request is greeted with a smile. They helped us book day trips and you could call them if you had any queries while you were out.
I would not hesitate to recommend the Parsifal.
Terrific views, marvelous hotel, wonderful staff
from allen94022We stayed in Room 22 which had a small balcony and a great view. Another good room would be the one that has a terrace above and overlooking the tables in the courtyard. Our room and bath were fairly standard issue (the shower within the tub was a bit of a challenge) and not fancy, but were quite reasonable and very clean.
The breakfasts were excellent and generally carried us much of the day. One has the option of either lunch or dinner included in the price of the room – we had three dinners and one lunch. There is limited selection (it was early in the season and may be different at peak times) but there was a choice of both the starter and the main course. The food is not haute cuisine, but it was certainly satisfactory and makes the price of the Hotel Parsifal an even better bargain.
Ravello is a charming town and fun to explore. The gardens of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone are outstanding. We also went to a classical music recital one evening and found it a great relaxation after a day of hiking. Since we had most meals at the Hotel Parsifal we did not eat in many Ravello restaurants, but would recommend the Ristorante Cumpa’ Cosimo, not far from the main piazza – good food, reasonable prices, and a jovial Italian matriarch who runs the show. There is also a good coffee bar/deli/restaurant on the immediate right at the bottom of the steps down to the main piazza.
We went hiking every day and there are a huge number of walks to explore, but be prepared for lots of vertical feet that go along with the spectacular views. Antonio lent us a local trekking map and guide. On successive days we hiked to Minori and Maori on the sea, to Convent San Nicola far across the valley from the Parsifal, up to a number of small towns in the hills, and in the immediate vicinity of Ravello. As with the rest of the Amalfi coast, in many cases one can make a loop or take a one way hike and then return by bus, which at one euro is a real bargain.
Why stay at Hotel Parsifal? Antonio and his brothers are wonderful hosts, the location is good, it is excellent value, and there is a warm, friendly feeling that makes you glad to be there. We were delighted that we picked the Hotel Parsifal and think you will be too.
Top Local Tips for Ravello
a ravello must dinner at cosimo..around for over 50 years. The owner/manager helps you choose. warm personal service- fine food
Boats and buses The taxis are very expensive. Use the public buses whenever possible for day trips or between hotels (can do even with luggage as we did from Amalfi to Positano) and the boats (which we did in returning from Positano to Ravello). The boat trips at 5.5 euros or so are very reasonable and fast, though the schedules are more limited than the buses and do not run if the sea is a bit rough (hence our bus ride from Amalfi to Positano, which was an unique experience in itself!).
Dont rely on Satnav Hairpin bends, narrow roads and steep hillsides confuse satnavs! Ours tried to take us up a set of steps. Get a map from google or where ever for the final directions to your hotel!
