a dream came true

from amalfiMolBelgium
we just came home from a 3 night stay with Margherita, her
daughter Suela and her son in law Andrea who run the nice
hotel on family basis but very professional and very helpful
to fulfill all your wishes.
Their kind hospitality and warm considerate service at any
moment of the day , made us feel at home and made our
stay at the Amalfi coast a wonderful dream to cherish and
never to forget .
The small romantic hotel is ideally situated just above the
village and we enjoyed the great view of the sea and the
Amalfi coast from our terrace . The rooms are very spacious
and have everything one need even a flat screen T.V.
We slept very well every night and there was absolutely
no noice from outside ; in the morning the breakfast was
excellent with eggs made by margherita just the way we
wanted them to be prepared . At breakfast , we were asked
what our wishes were for dinner and every night we enjoyed
mama margherita's marvellous cooking, and the family wine
made at a winery owned by Andrea's aunt was jammy -jammy
and cheap considering the quality .
To illustrate how the Margherita family is concerned to please
you and to take care of you; here is an example: when one
night at dinner we so much enjoyed the music with original
napolitano songs from a CD ; Andrea burned us a copy and
offered it , free of charge , to take home . That's what true
hospitality is about !
Dear Margherita, Suela and Andrea Grazie Mille
A la prossima volta

Perfect location

from vivebene
We stayed for three nights at the Hotel Margherita.
It was right off the road with parking for our rental there were no steps to climb, which is very common for hotels on the Amalfi Coast.
The town is situated in between Positano and the town of Amalfi.
We had Room #16, which had a terrace overlooking the water.
It had to be 400 square feet...just perfect to sit, have a glass of wine and watch the sunset.
This hotel is family-owned and they just go out of their way to make your stay a perfect one.
Margerita is a lovely hostess; as stated before on the TA, she will ask you what you would like for dinner if you want to have dinner there.
I recommend dinner at the hotel at least one.
We had fresh ravioli; swordfish; sauteed string beans and soup.
All freshly made and delicious.
Her daughter, Suela runs the place with her husband Andrea.
It was the perfect base for our trips to Ravello, Amalfi, Positano, Sorrento and Capri.
We will stay there again

An Unforgettable Vacation

from Gilboa
We spent an unforgettable ten days at this wonderful family operated hotel in Praiano, a small village centrally located on the beautiful Amalfi Coast in Italy. The hotel has only 28 rooms, all roomy and well-appointed, a swimming pool and several sundecks.

Our room had a private balcony overlooking the sea and we were treated to some magnificent sunrises. The hotel also has a small restaurant which is well known in the area for its excellent cuisine and reasonable prices. We usually ate our evening meal at the hotel after returning from a day of exploring the wonders of the Amalfi coast. The owner, Margherita, is in charge of the kitchen and was willing and able to accommodate any of our special requests for items not appearing on the menu. Fresh fish and vegetables were always available in abundance. We paid 81 Euro per night for our double room, including a generous buffet breakfast. Four course dinners cost 18 Euro per person. Margherita was always in the breakfast room making sure that all special requests were attended to.

Margherita's daughter and son-in-law, Suella and Andrea, were in charge of various other aspects of running the hotel. They were always available to give advice on what places to visit and how to get there by public transportation. We visited Amalfi, Positano, Minori, Ravello, Sorrento and Pompei during our visit and were able to enjoy an amazing variety of natural beauty and sites of interest, including some excellent museums that are off the beaten track, such as the paper museum in Amalfi and the antiquities museum in Minori. When we were not off on day trips, we were able to relax in the quiet and peaceful atmosphere of the hotel or to stroll along the picturesque streets of Praiano . It was always amusing to watch Suela and Andrea playing with their 8 month old baby and his 3 year old sister.

All in all, we had a wonderful ten day vacation thanks to Margherita and her wonderful family. We intend to return in the not too distant future.

A wonderful place

from bordercrossing
Located on the Amalfi Coast in Priano, this is a wonderful place. Family members run the hotel and are most accomodating. The dining facities are very good and Mama does the cooking. If you don't like the menu, she'll cook what you want with sufficient notice (she'll take your order at breakfast). The rooms are excellent, modern, clean and quite spacious. Bulit against the cliffs, it does not have the same drop off that other hotels in that region have. There is a pool but we were too late in the season to enjoy. Great view of the coast. If there is a drawback, it is the fact the hotel is above main road. A town bus services the hotel and you can walk up the hill but it is a climb (what isn't a climb there) . All in all, you will not be disappointed with your stay there.

Pretty Good

from AFGirl
The hotel was nice overall. The room and bathroom were clean and we really did have a beautiful view. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Don't bother eating dinner at the hotel--it's mediocre at best. They have satellite TV, but oddly out of about 250 channels they had about 20 Arabic channels, 10 or so German channel, but I think there were maybe only 5 or 6 in English and about half of those were religious. Not a big problem, it just seemed strange.

The hotel is way up at the top of a hill. They'll come pick you up when you first get in to town and there's a bus to Positano that picks up right in front of the hotel, but if you want to get the bus to Amalfi or even go in to the center of town for dinner etc. you'll have to walk up and down this hill.

Not sure if we'd stay there again... in fact we probably wouldn't stay in Praiano again as there's really not much to do there. We'd probably stay in Positano as that was my favorite town on the coast.

Beautiful views!

from Grace431
Having read very good reviews about his hotel, it seemed worth a visit, so my boyfriend and I visited Praiano on a very hot week at the end of June. The room was clean, breakfast was ok, just not much choice, and with all the beautiful restaurants in Positano, it just seemed silly to actually dine in the hotel.
The only thing that really drove me crazy, was (apart from the humidity and unbearable heat, no fault of the hotel of course) the long way to get to the hotel from Positano, buses are frequent, and we did have a car, but parking and the traffic in nearby Positano is crazy!! The hotel is situated at the top of a hill or almost, so if you're not into walking and don't mind waiting a while for the bus, forget it! All in all the most important thing to us was a quiet and relaxing environment and Hotel Margherita, fitted the bill perfectly, it was indeed a very enjoyable holiday!

Perfect place to stay

from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I just returned from a trip Italy. One stop being in Praiano and we fell in love with it. The hotel is family run with excellent hospitality. The owners were always helpful and accomodating. The rooms had magnificent views of the mediterranean and were very spacious and clean. The breakfast was very good with many choses that "Mom" made. We also chose to eat dinner there two nights and both meals were great. It is situated between Amalfi and Positano with buses running to both places and the beach throughout the day. It is just as beautiful as these places just much more quiet and calm. We are already thinking about when we can go back and we will definelty stay at Hotel Margherita.

A Great experienvce

from Sosider
Everyone at this hotel will do anything that they can to make this one of the best hotel stays that you will find in Italy. It is a family run business that features mama, Margherita,
daughter Suela, and son-in-law Andrea, that makes this property click. Margherita is in the kitchen from six am till everyone has finished supper. She will ask the evening before, or early morning what you would like to have for dinner and will shop for food that day for whatever you asked for. Special price for guests is 18 euros for a four course dinner and they have a nice wine selection that is very reasonable also. We stayed in one of the standard rooms that had not been renovated and it was more than adequate. We could have slept four people in our room and could have been comfortable. They were always very helpfull with maps and directions. They had Ice, which we found very hard to come by in Italy. They even offered to come pick us up when we decided to try another resturant down the hill about a mile away. We said that there were six of us and they responded that was OK, they could make two trips. The only negative was that they need to get new towels as the old ones were ready pitch.

Top Local Tips for Praiano

side trip we took to the Blue Grotto while staying in Praiano We found the Blue Grotto was over-rated and not worth the time and money spent on seeing it. It was the one thing we toured that we felt taken advantage of.

Getting around the Amalfi Coast Public transportation is very good on the coast from most of the towns. You can take either bus or ferry (best for further destinations) at a very low price. Look at taking the ferry from Naples to your location to avoid a car. The roads are in great shape, but unbelievably curvy and narrow. Watch out for scooters!

Travel to and from Airport If times coincide, catch airport bus (blue) to Naples ferry terminals and catch ferry to Sorrento, Positano or Amalfi (via Capri if necessary). Roads near Amalfi/Praiano and Positano are awful to drive on so don't hire a car but use buses (mostly 1 euro each trip) and ferries (approx 5 to 10 euros per trip plus a bit more for luggage).
