Wonderful honeymoon stay

I booked this hotel as part of a honeymoon surprise for my son Mike and Rosanna. They were made to feel special. English breakfast Mike said was yummy. One of the best dinners they had in 3 weeks. Hotel decor beautiful and all the staff and owner were wonderful. Would definitely stay again. Villa Franca was such a special start of their honeymoon.

I have stayed at the Villa Franca a few times, and each time the experience was better and better. The hotel itself is beautiful, and exudes class and luxury, while the staff is the friendliest, most cordial group of people. I have reccommended this hotel to everyone i know traveling to the south of Italy.

Superb views

My husband I and I stayed at the Hotel Villa Franca for a week. Our huge room, equipped with a balcony had a stunning view of the town below and ocean. As it was our honeymoon they'd prepared our room with a lovely bunch of flowers and a bottle of local sparkling....a nice touch.
Andrew, the barman makes the best strawberry daiquiri's in town and the rest of the staff are friendly and polite. The location on top of the hill not only provides spectacular viewing, but it's made easier by the shuttle van so you don't have to walk back up the hill....great after a few drinks at Music on the Rocks.

Spectacular Views!

We spent 2 nights at the Villa Franca during our honeymoon in June and had a wonderful time. The best way to get to Positano (if you are arriving by train) is to hire a private driver. The other alternative from Naples is a bus or a ferry, but the peace of mind of being driven by car is definately worth the money!
The hotel staff at the Villa Franca was very friendly and professional, giving us great restaurant recommendations and free towel service for the beach as well as the pool. Our rooms were very ornately decorated, although a little small.
The highlight of the hotel is the spectacular view from the rooftop pool. Lunch and coffee is served by the pool- a definate plus! In our experience, to fully appreciate the beauty of Positano, you have to experience it from high up… that is were you get the most spectacular views! Because of that, we only went down to the beach once, and spent most of the time at the pool enjoying the view.
Restaurant choices: Follow the winding path up the mountain from the beach and you will find La Guarracino, a charming familiy owned restaurant with a great view. We ate there many times, as did many from our hotel!
The Villa Franca is at the very top of the mountain…it is a plus because you have the best views in Positano, but….you are a slave to the hotel shuttle bus. If you choose to walk up the mountain, make sure you wear comfortable shoes, because there are A LOT of stairs!

We enjoyed every minute at the Hotel Villa Franca in Positano. Our room was exceptionally clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were more than adequate (scrambled eggs, meat, cheese, pastries). The view from the pool was fabulous - as if you are on top of the world - and we loved having drinks in the lobby bar. We will definitely stay here again on future trips to Positano.

We stayed at the Villa Franca for five nights in October and really enjoyed every minute, the staff, food and accommodations were perfect. We had just spent five nights in Rome and found the Amalfi coast to be just beautiful and most relaxing.
We are in our sixties and didn't mind the walking but did find the hotel shuttle service and also the local buses to be of great service when our legs just couldn't climb the hills. I hope we can someday return to this lovely area.

We were here in September for 5 nights and staying at Villa Franca was a bird's eye view of Positano and the coast. Being so high up, you're a slave to the shuttle which was a negative. Also, our rooms weren't too clean--upon arrival there was hair on the floor and they seemed to never clean the floors.
Breakfast was a treat--a full, tasty selection. The pool was wonderful, as was the lunch served on linen poolside.
Due to the dirty room, I would not return.

Stayed here for 2 nights on our honeymoon in Oct 04, and this was by far the highlight of our trip.
The rooms, although not that big, were beautiful, and the view from our balcony of the Mediterranean and the surrounding coast and towns was unbelievable and worth the price of the room alone (check out the pictures on their website - they are very accurate and will give you an idea of what to expect). We slept with the doors open and were put to sleep by the sound of the waves crashing on the shore below. The rooftop pool area was great and the view was unreal. The staff were beyond friendly and bent over backwards to make sure our stay was perfect (for example, I told them it was our honeymoon and they had a bottle of champagne waiting for us in our room). The location is great - there's a shuttle that takes you down to the town, but it's a really nice 10 minute walk too if it's not too hot out (down, of course, is easier than up). It's not in the heart of things, which was the best part - I would have hated staying in one of the hotels in town. If you're going to Positano, you should definitely stay at the Villa Franca - you will not regret it.

Positano Heaven

Hotel Villa Franca is a place to love. It is situated in a perfect spot on the top of an outcropping, commanding awesome 360 degree views. Every corner is beautifully and tastefully decorated in an elegant beach theme including the heavenly pool on the roof, the guest rooms, the breakfast room, the ristorante, the bar and even the exercise room and Turkish bath. The service is excellent and the food delicious. The location is very convenient through the hotel's shuttle down to the shops and ferries and access a short walk up the hill to local stores and the SITA bus to Amalfi and Sorrento.

Stayed at the Villa Franca for 4 days in September 2004, and I loved it. This is a great place and a value at 190 Euros. The service was terrific and the pool was a plus. The room was very nice with a great bathroom. We took the least expensive room and still had a view of the sea. There are too many great things to talk about in Positiano and the Villa Franca. This is a great place with very friendly owners and staff. I'll definitely return!

We stayed at the Villa Franca in May, 2004 and loved it. With probably the best views in Positano from either the rooms or roof top pool, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the ambiance was lovely and the place was spotless and well kept. We would strongly reccomend this hotel as a four star property with good value for your money. We ate at Chez Black and Le Tre Sorelle (3 sisters) and both were very good as were the inexpensive house wines. Impossible not to love Positano.
Top Local Tips for Positano
Arriving from Naples Airport The most spectacular way to get to Positano is by the ferry. These leave regularly from the docks at Naples harbour. Be warned, this service is very weather dependant, as the seas can be choppy! http://www.metrodelmare.com/inglese/home.htm
Capri While the boat ride to Capri was thrilling. I found the island a dissappointment. I did not go to Italy to go to Rodeo Drive. Read up on Capri before you go. Be prepared to rent a scooter...get away from the CROWDS! Very expensive. My husband and I had two coca colas and one cafe Americano and it cost $25.00.
What to pack Make sure you bring some comfy shoes!
