Le Sirenuse claimed a typing mistake with quote

from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I will not stay at Le Sirenuse after a staff person claimed to have made a 'typing mistake' with a quote. We had several emails discussing the quote we had been given, in which they very specifically promoted the lower rate in comparison to an advertised rate. However, just when we were to confirm the booking, they claimed a 'typing mistake' which was totally unbelievable as it had been written several times, and compared with the advertised rate; they then wanted another 180 Euros per night. We recommend that you treat their quotes with extreme caution.
This was to be part of a 30th wedding anniversary holiday, so we are extremely disappointed.

Great Hotel

from travelgeek
Le Serenuse is a great hotel. Our room was perfect. Worth every penny.

Dinner is best spent somewhere else. The music and the service are fine but we had some problems with our order and the food was ordanary in our opinion.

Watch the price you are quoted and what they sign you in at. We had a difference there.

I have stayed in hotels good and bad all over the world and the Le Sirenuse is one of the BEST.

We just came back from a short stay in November. The hotel was by far the best place I have ever stayed. The service was first class, the rooms were unbeliveable, so unique with nothing "cookie-cutter" and the view of the sea from the room was breathtaking. I highly recommend an off season redezvous in Le Sirenuse.

Nice, but not likely to return

from A TripAdvisor Member
A very fine hotel if you want the experience of staying in just that...not a feeling of being near the ocean or part of the town. A fantastic brunch and beautiful views, but over-priced at the end of the day for what you really get & experience. The other reviews rated this hotel too highly in my opinion. There are many other equally wonderful places to stay in this area for much better value, I would not return.

Beautiful food but a little disappointed.

We have just returned from our honeymoon in Italy staying at amazing hotels...Cipriani, Hassler and Le Sirenuse. We were especially looking forward to the Sirenuse as we had read such amazing reports. The hotel is beautiful, dinner in the restaurant is a must, stunning food and service with a breathtaking view also the champagne bar is just fab. Our suite had a view was over the ocean however it was never cool. We would put on the air conditioning before going out and return to find the maid had switched it off so the room was like a sauna.every time we went out. Even through the evening the aircon was poor.Something small I know but at £800 per night we think they could afford to leave it on. The pool area was a little too small some people couldnt bathe around it as there was no room. Perhaps it was because it was August. Beautiful hotel but not worth the high price.

Romantic restaurant - beautiful hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
The Sirenuse is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful town. The restaurant was absolutely amazing - great food surrounded by tons of candles, lemon tree vines and musicians moving from table to table - very romantic! My only complaints are that some of the front desk people were not the most helpful in the world and also, there are too many Americans and not enough Europeans there. The price is exorbitant as it is with most of Italy's 5 star hotels. If I were to go back I would spend more time in Capri and less in Positano and also look for a 5 star hotel that isn't as popular as Sirenuse (and therefore less expensive)

Wonderful Hotel

from muddsmom
We absolutely loved this hotel. They arranged for a car service to pick us up at the Naples Train Station and also for our return trip to the Naples Airport. Positano only has one road which loops through the little town, (one way) and there are a million steps to everything. Thank goodness, the lobby of Le Sirenuse is situated on the main road with a small area for the car services to park for checkin. We had a triple room with a balcony and sea view. It was spectacular. The room was very large with a king sized bed, desk, chest of drawers, couch, several chairs and a twin sized bed for our 19 year old son. The bathroom was very large with a jacuzzi tub and shower. All the furnishings are white and the tile floors are white and blue.

I know this is a very upscale hotel, but no one acts snooty and everyone is very friendly. There are common rooms throughout the hotel with antiques, flowers and plants everywhere. This was once the home of the owners and you do get the feeling you are staying in someone's Villa. The wait staff was exceptional. The hotel has a very comfortable feel to it and we noticed the family members (owners) were around all the time making sure everything runs smoothly. There is a DVD and CD player in the room and a large assortment of DVD's to choose from in the SPA at no charge as well as laptop computers. There are also four or five CD's with classical selections in each room.

This was truly one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in and we cannot wait to return.

The Most Beautiful Hotel on the Planet!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Le Sirenuse is heaven on earth. I have stayed in many fine hotels, but nothing comes close to the beauty, views, rooms, food, service and friendliness of this breathtaking beauty. Stay at Le Sirenuse at least once before you die. It's a masterpiece.

sheer perfection

from Foalyard
We stayed at Le Sirenuse for our honeymoon in June 2004 for a week of total bliss. This hotel has a certain charm which is so rare to find, it does not shout money, but whispers it quietly. It feels very much like a private villa with beautiful antiques so carefully placed with such thought in all the rooms, fresh flowers and a full ice bucket each evening to chill your bottle of prosecco ready to drink on the terrace and watch the sun go over the mountains. Heaven.
We will never forget our first evening, after arriving and having a long siesta, we woke to the sound of a mandolin and guitar playing in the open air restaurent below, the view on stepping out onto the balcony was breathtaking, as all of Positano is lit with tiny twinkling lights not one neon sign in sight.
The pool area is stunning, although the hotel was busy it was never crowded, poolside drinks although expensive were beautifully served, olives and almonds included. Chilled towels to cool you down and fruit served at intervals during the day were provided by attentive staff and very friendly barman.
We had a deluxe room which had a jacuzzi and I must mention the fantastic bath products refreshed daily, the scent transports me back each time I use them again!
Do take advantage of the complimentary boat trips, this was fantastic as we were the only two on the boat that afternoon and it was very romantic! The crew sail around the Sirens and along the coast, stopping for you to swim in the sea.
We found the food in Positano of a high standard generally, we ate at various restaurants including Il san Pietro which was probably the best meal we had during our stay, a must is a speedboat ride back around the bay, very James Bond.
I really cannot praise Le Sirenuse highly enough, If I never go anywhere else again at least I have been there. Truly magical. Hopefully we will return one day!

A Place to Visit Again and Again

from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I stayed at Le Sirenuse for our honeymoon in July 2002, returned in May 2003 and are excited for our upcoming visit July 2004. We chose to stay in their standard room each time. However, on our first visit, the room was so small there was barely room to move or put the suitcase on the floor. Luckily, they had one room at our price level that was much larger and available. It didn't have the view but that did not bother us since we were outside most of the time soaking in the beautiful view. In fact, I requested the same larger room again in my future visits. The standard rooms are not inexpensive (400 Euro) but if you are willing to spend more, I would definitely book a larger room with a sea view rather than risk a miniscule room. Le Sirenuse has the most beautiful pool area you will find anywhere!!! And a delicious and pricey lunch just a few steps from the pool. The view during that lunch is out of a movie. The buffet breakfast and dinner at their restaurant is delicious. The fitness center is very high-end and the male masseuse gave the massage of a lifetime. I didn't think I'd want one when I could be enjoying the beauty of the hotel but I was tempted hearing others rave about their massage. Le Sirenuse offers in certain months a boat trip for a few hours which was worthwhile and very enjoyable (and complimentary). The front desk staff is helpful but two of the people are stiff and not very warm (and they were like that on my 2nd visit as well). However, they were polite and did their jobs. (If you want to meet solicitious and warm hotel staff without having to tip them first visit Palazzo Sasso in Ravello). Le Sirenuse will happily arrange for car service for you to and from the airport but if you do it yourself, you'll find the price is much lower since the hotel apparently takes a cut when you book through them. Great restaurants are the hotel's La Sponda, San Pietro, Donna Rossa and Palazzo Sasso in Ravello (a long drive) and among others. Le Sirenuse is in a wonderful location and close to the restaurants and shops. I can't wait to return.

Top Local Tips for Positano

Antiques There is a great little antique shop across the street and uphill. Treasures among the "stuff."

Arriving From Naples The hotel can arrange a private car to take you to/from the airport. It is WELL worth the money for this relaxing trip !

Travel agent fees If you decide to use a travel agent be aware that some agents receive fees for booking at specific hotels. My travel agent received around 200$ for booking me at one hotel in Italy. Ask travel agents to disclose what fees they receive for booking your trip. Or better yet, book it yourself.
