Less expensive hotel in good location. Rooms were clean with no frills, and service was attentive and prompt. No luxury here, but none intended either.

Top Local Tips for Positano

Getting Around Make sure you are familiar with Positano's layout and location of your hotel before you book. Positano is very hilly and the beach could be a considerable walk up/down stairs and hills from your hotel. You could also find your hotel at the wrong end of the one way system adding considerably to the cost of a taxi (which are not cheap). If you arrive by boat you will have a 15 minute walk from the dock just to get to the road to pick up a taxi. Cars cannot get down to the beach, as they do not fit in the narrow winding streets leading up from the beach.

Public transportations You do not need an automobile. There is wonderful transportation by ferry and also bus, connecting Naples, Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi (Ravello).
