Friendly hotel in great poition

from A TripAdvisor Member
We had a very relaxing week at Eden Roc. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Thebreakfasts are great (on one occcasion including 22 different baked confections) and served by waiters who are charming and start the day with a smile. Eden Roc is smart, clean, all rooms have air con, balconies and sea view and there is a great pool and sunbathing area with panoramic views. The bar and restaurant are smart and, as is the hall mark of this hotel, the service is friendly and helpful.
If you want to get away from it all and relax or explore this beautiful part of the world the Eden Roc is a great place to stay.

Paradise at the Eden Roc

from A TripAdvisor Member
We have just returned from a week at the Eden Roc Hotel in the beautiful village of Positano, Italy. Everything about the hotel is first class and the staff could not have been more professional, attentive and helpful.
We paid 345 euros per night (including breakfast) for a suite of bedroom and sitting room with balcony.
The views from the balcony and solarium/swimming pool are absolutely stunning and the beach is but a 10 minute stroll through the village which is an experience in itself being aptly named 'the vertical village'. There is a circular bus service within the village (1euro) which stops right outside the hotel.
Positano is on the main bus route between Sorrento and Amalfi and is therefore very handy for trips into the surrounding countryside. There are also numerous boat trips including to Capri.
We shall certainly be returning to the Eden Roc.

Great, Small Hotel

from Petelock
My wife and I had a wonderful 3 night stay at the Eden Roc in Positano. We had a room on the 3rd floor (the Imperial Suite), and the view was fantastic. The suite was very large, and extremely comfortable (completely with a hot tub on the outside veranda). The front desk folks were extremely helpful, and helped us with dinner reservations/travel advice. It was about a 5-6 minute walk down to the main square in Positano, and about a 10 minute walk back up the hill. If you're using Positano as a base for exploring the Amalfi Coast (as we did), this hotel is very well situated -- easy to get in and out of Amalfi from here. We would definitely stay here again.

Make sure you have a dinner at Le Sirenuse. Great food, and very romantic. We also had dinner at the Adam and Eve restaurant at the Eden Roc -- one of the better meals we had in Amalfi.

Amazing Hotel!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
I have to say, the Eden Roc is an amazing hotel. From the second we checked in, the service and the staff were incredible. Our room was a breath of fresh air. Very large and spacious compared to other hotels in Positano, not to mention spotless. Our balcony was huge and it over looked the ocean and the mountain (the most beautiful view I have ever seen). The restaurant is a must! Delicious food and a great buffet breakfast each morning to start our day. Another nice feature to this hotel is the lovely pool. The panoramic view from up there was breathtaking. The hotel is about a ten minute walk away from the beach (3 minutes by bus). In my opinion the Eden Roc is one of the nicest hotels in Positano. Highly recommended. I definately would stay there again!

Would not honor rate.

from A TripAdvisor Member
Generally nice hotel, but they would not honor the rate that the room was reserved and confirmed with. Lorenzo the concierge did not seem to care that I had a printed confirmation with the number of guests and the rate. Fortunately VISA rules. I disputed the charges and was refunded the extra charges.

The hotel is a bit far from town and on a busy street. Saturday night can get a little loud. The view from the pool deck is outstanding. Unfortunately the water chemistry was way out of balance causing my eyes to burn.

The staff were generally very accommodating. It would have been a good stay if not for our check in experiences. Make sure that you understand all charges before you stay here. Parking is also very expensive

Unforgettable Honeymoon

from A TripAdvisor Member
I just returned from 6 nights a this hotel for my honeymoon. We stayed in room 327 which was a Jr Suite. Breathtaking is the only word that comes to mind!

From the minute we walked into the hotel everything was taken care of. The help was fantastic, couldnt imagine better service. The room was amazing. It had tile floorings, very large balcony. And when I say clean, it was spotless!!! The maid would literally scrub the tub everyday and wash the floors.

The breakfast was more than adequate! I do not agree with the London reviewer. The breakfast had yogurt, cheese, meat, breads, pastries, what more could you ask for?

The location of the hotel is also fabulous. Right outside is the bus travelling the Amalfi Coast. The road to the main Sq is right outside. The beach is a 10-15 minute walk, which can be difficult on the way up if you are not in half decent shape.

I could not recommend this hotel anymore. There is no doubt in my mind that I will return to this hotel someday!

Wonderful stay!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We just returned from a 2 week stay in Italy -Florence, Rome and Positano. We traveled independent of a tour group and were a bit intimidated being unsure if we were making the right choices for hotels. We based our decisions for hotels on the consistency of TripAdvisor.com's readers. They were right on target for all three hotels. In Florence we stayed at Hotel Savoy, Rome was Exedra, Positano was Hotel Eden Roc. We would not have changed one thing. The Hotel Eden Roc was wonderful. First, it is only steps away from the bus stop which was very convenient . Next, the staff was super friendly, efficient and attentive. The hotel is mainly operated by a family along with other employees. Because it is family operated, their pride shows through in everything. The facility was extremely clean, the food for dinner was exceptional and the service was absolutely the best. Lorenzo, the owners son, who works the front desk, actually came with me to the bus stop to help carry our bags back to the hotel and he was extremely gracious, never making me feel as though I was inconveniencing him. Antonio and Sylvia could not have been more attentive as they hustled in the morning making sure guests had all their needs taken care of for breakfast. The breakfast is not the typical American breakfast of eggs, bacon, etc... but it is nicely displayed with cereals, pastries, juices and it was plenty! (and by the way you are NEVER rushed from breakfast or dinner and you are never made to feel that you are too late either!) The hotel is a quick walk down to the beach and shops and we actually looked forward to the walk. We stayed in both a junior suite for 4 nights and a superior room for 1 night (our last night). So we can be quite fair in our commenting about the differences in the rooms. As the commentary from the party from the UK (May 31) was upset about the Junior Suite, keep in mind Junior Suite is not a Suite. (Also, while we were at the Eden Roc guests from Le Sirenuse actually came to look over our hotel for their next trip and said they would never stay at Le Sirenuse again - too costly and not worth it.) The room with the big balcony that he referred to is a Superior Room and we stayed in that room for our last night .The room was actually much smaller than the Jr Suite. The great benefit of that particular Superior Room was the balcony was very roomy and also offered partial sun/partial shade. On the other hand the Junior Suite really had much more room and a much bigger bathroom and sink area to lay out all your toiletries (spelling??). We would stay in either one again. The experience at Hotel Eden Roc is really not just about the room (which, by the way, they all looked nice, as I often glanced in open doors as the rooms were being cleaned:) The experience at Hotel Eden Roc really was an overall feeling of relaxation, peacefulness, and total enjoyment. As you can tell from this writeup..we highly recommend the Hotel Eden Roc. It really was a Wonderful Paradise and a perfect ending to a fabulaous vacation. As my husband and I both said..."bye bye Positano, bye bye Eden Roc...we'll definitley see you again!

Be Warned

from Smoothie
We have just returned from a weeks adventure along the Amalfi Coast. Before we ventured out we underwent considerable research including that of the comments of our fellow tripadvisors on where to stay. Consequently, we were extremely disappointed over this much hyped hotel. We booked a junior suite expecting the large jaccuzzi and full terrace overlooking the bay and separate sitting room whilst conscious of its more remote location but considered it to be not material to our choice. Accordingly we were confused to find a separate entry hall but a one room with a couch (does this really qualify as a junior suite) and whilst there was a large bathroom, we only had one sink and standard sized bath with jets (is that a jaccuzzi??). Whilst we stepped out onto our miniscule sized terrace, we noticed a much larger terrace next door, perhaps this is the one room everyone is talking about?
The service was friendly but one cannot survive on service alone. Also the breakfast was base at best, if you like corn flakes then you will too will rave about the food. If you are spending hundreds of euro do yourself a favour and book into the Le Sirenuse, the breathtaking views from the balcony and the sumptunous world class Bellini's are well worth it!!!

Heaven in Italy

from A TripAdvisor Member
Our family of four stayed at the Eden Roc Suites Hotel in early April and absolutely loved it! ALL members of the staff were extraordinary in their attentiveness and service. We arrived late after a long day of train travel and the restaurant was closed but the staff went into the kitchen and prepared salad and pizza for us! We booked a junior suite and it was fabulous and spacious - crucial with two young boys - including a wonderful veranda with view of the Positano beach and cliffs and a sizable bathroom complete with jacuzzi tub. There was some minor early morning street noise but not a problem for us; might be more of a problem in the high season when one would want the sliding door wide open. The beach and shops are a 7 minute walk from the hotel.

There are somewhat frequent, depending on strikes, SITA buses from Positano to Sorrento/Pompeii and to Amalfi/Ravello at the cost of ~ 2 Euros/person. A taxi from Eden Roc to Sorrento cost us ~40 Euros with no traffic but we were fortunate to meet a wonderful Sorrento-based driver named Carmine Moretti, who is featured in the Sorrento section of Rick Steves' books. Carmine is a wealth of information with a great attitude. We called on him to drive us back to Naples from Eden Roc since his Mercedes wagon was large enough to haul our numerous bags. If interested, contact me for his number or email address. Bottomline: The Eden Roc Hotel, though on the high side, is perfect for families.

Great for Families!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We were traveling with my father and our newborn son. The rooms are HUGE. There is a separate sitting area and sleeping area in the junior suites. We stayed on the fourth floor and had a wonderful view of Positano. The restaurant was wonderful and the staff very friendly. The owner was sooo kind, his son drove my father to get a hair-cut because it was raining. We have traveled much of the world and I have to say, for Europe, this was by far one of the best rooms we've found. The bathroom has a jacuzzi tub that is just perfect after a long day of walking. It is not long to walk to the beach or the stores, it is just as close as the more exclusive hotel, Le Sirenuse. Everything was great. We will stay there again next year.

Top Local Tips for Positano

I wish I were an artist ... The beauty of Positano is indescribable. I wish I had been able to capture it on canvas. If you can't relax here, you should give up.

Handmade Sandals Ladies - don't miss getting a pair of handmade sandals in Positano. There are a few little shops were you can pick out what type of sandal you would like along with heel height and they custom fit them to your feet. A wonderful momento for your stay!

Great Food Definitely eat at La Cambusa near the beach front. Service and food is excellent!
