We stayed at the Domina Royal Aug 8-10 2005, the service is incredibly poor. On check out they tried to charge use an additional $75 euros per night over and above our confirmed price stating our confirmed copy was wrong and the one they had was the right one. The pool requires a bathing cap, I would suggest a wet suit. The pool is covered with a thick layer of pink bacteria on the walls, quite disgusting. The food was horrible, as were the staff. My advice is for anyone travelling who wants an enjoyable vacation in a truly scenic location, book elsewhere. We had dinner at the Hotel Murat, I would stay there on our next visit. It was beautiful, and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly.

Top Local Tips for Positano

Not easy to reach, but worth the effort We took a train from Rome to Naples, then a bus from Naples to Amalfi as a taxi was 100 Euros, then a taxi to Positano from Amalfi because the standing room only packed bus would take 30 minutes. The taxi cost us about 100 USD with the tip. Leaving Positano we took the bus to Sorrento and that was a lot more civil than the sleezy Naples bus-train area. That said, the Amalfi Coast, especially Positano, is the most beautiful place you can imagine and worth the effort. If you have the financial resources to take taxis and car service, I recommend it. Driving and parking there is a challenge and we did not rent a car and would not rent one in the future.

Cafe Positano excellent food, reasonable prices, excellent view - half way up the cliff.

Bus There's a bus that goes around in a loop it's very easy to use.
