Top Local Tips for Positano

Getting To and Fro ... You can take a private car service from Naples airport, directly, to many of the hotels in Positano - as my wife and I did when we arrived. It costs money (about 120 Euros for a 1 hour 20 minute trip) but we did ride in style (a chauffered Mercedes). And, after a lengthy flight from the East Coast of the U.S., it was certainly the easiest and most convenient option. But, you should be aware that there are other ways of getting to Positano. In the summer, there is ferry service to/from most of the other towns on the Amalfi Coast and direct service to/from Naples, which - by the way - only takes 1 hour and costs 12 Euros each. If you're staying at any of the hotels up Positano's notoriously steep cliffs, and you arrive in town by sea, it will be difficult to get to your hotel without hiring a porter to drive you/your luggage up. Also, the SITA bus is a cost-efficient means of getting to Positano but there are only two stops in town. From either stop, you'll be walking.
