Never wanted to leave

Good value for money with the best location in Positano. We had room 22 which had its own grassed area for our private use that overlooked the beach. The room was large, very neat and clean. The staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast was the best we had during our 5 week stay in Europe. They staff are willing to help book any trips, they even helped our friends (who were not customers) find the unit they had rented and internet access is free (after paying a fortune in Paris this was quite a saving). We met and made friends with a few of the locals, they informed us that the Buca di Bacco is by far the best value for money in Positano. We would go back to Positano in a second and would definately not stay anywhere else.

Very Disappointed

We were at the Buca di Bacco a couple of weeks ago and had we had decided to book in as a treat after hearing good reviews.
Upon arrival at the hotel we were shocked at the look of the reception and the smell of stale smoke. The staff were nice though. We were then taken to our room which had a great view, tiny balcony, and a full dirty ashtray that had not been emptied. The bathroom was appalling with a mouldy dirty shower curtain and aging window and fittings definitely not 4 star standard. We were not impressed at all.
The staff were lovely but on the last night we left the bathroom door closed to stop mosquitos in the room and the maid turned the bed down and opened the bathroom door and we were stuck with a mosquito in our room all night my partner was bitten.
This is not the standard a 4 star hotel should be and it was a bit of a disppointing end to a lovely trip. I feel price the you pay is for the view only.
Try the La Tre Sorelle for dinner - this place is fabulous and the B & B Villla La Tartana just behind the hotel was outstanding.

The Hit of Our Trip!

Just had 3 wonderful days there in a lovely room with a large terrace overlooking the sea. Got a lot of fumes from the black smoke that the hydrofoils let off but that isn't the hotel's fault. The breakfast was by far the best of our trip with many kinds of fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt and good pastries. Our room, number 20, had a very bad odor but by not using the bathroom fan and keeping the door to the terrace open a lot we didn't notice after the first evening. Perhaps it's from the boats or sewer, a sulphuric smell. The manager said that he smelled nothing but there is a problem there, even though the room is quite new. They even got tickets for us for Eurostar

Perfect for beach and shopping

Buca di Bacco was a real find. It climbs up the side of Positano ( a very steep town) and so manages to be on the beach - walk through its pizza restaurant, and in the town - (walk through reception ) at the same time. Perfect for shopping in the quaint old town. The main terrace restaurant and bar overlooks the sea - very romantic . Large luxury bedrooms - ours had a large balcony with sea view. Helpful staff, good food.

This hotel was paradise. We stayed for 6 nights and loved every moment. The location was right on the water and provided a great view and easy access to everything! Fransesco was great and made several arrangements for us. Very comfortable hotel.

We stayed at Buca di Bacco for 5 nights and it was an amazing place. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was huge - looking out to the gorgeous ocean. We spent a lot of time on our balcony relishing the Italien coast. We enjoyed the delicious breakfasts in the morning and every minute that we were there.

My sister had her wedding reception at Buca di Bacco, and I can honestly say, it was fantastic! The owners, Salvatore and Carla went out of their way to make us happy. The hotel is an elegant small place, with all sophistication of a 5 star hotel. There is free internet access, and a lovely restaurant overlooking the beach. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Fantastic in every respect

Salvatore and Carla, the owners of Buca Di Bacca made my wedding reception truely unbelievable at their hotel. I had found them online and choosen the location by viewing their web page. I arrived in advance of the wedding date to view and meet the person I had corresponded with via e-mail. Salvatore and Carla spent time with me discussing the details of the reception that would be held in their dining room. After the meeting, I felt like I could relax and leave it in their capable hands. Let me tell you, the room and balcony was beyond my wildest romantic dreams. Their staff was incrediable. Service flawless. Food was all handmade, including a 3 tierd wedding cake. Flower decorations trhroughout the room were exquisit and fragrant. Salvatore even came by and took some wedding photo's during the night for us. If you have any event in Positano, do it at Buca Di Baco. You won't be disappointed!

Little bit of Heaven!

We have just returned from a 3 week stay in Italy with our 2 children. Positano was a 5 night stay & by far our favorite. This town is heavenly & the Buca di Bacco is as heavenly! Francesco at the front desk is a remarkable source of information and help arranging drivers, dinners, trips to Capri, etc. The atmosphere here is so relaxing. We had a large suite so there was plenty of room for all 4 of us. We had a lovely balcony with chairs & table overlooking the beach. I would highly recommend this hotel and would love to go back again soon.

Just Perfect

My girlfriend and I spent 2 days at the Buca di Bacco and couldn't have been happier. We stayed in room #12...(its a corner room with a huge balcony that faces the ocean and the hills of positano.) The bathroom is HUGE (and it also has a balcondy) and its brand new. The people here were very helpful too. Some of the nicest staff of any hotel I've ever stayed at...and I've been to a lot. If you like smaller hotels that are charming and wonderful, this is the place to be. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat..

Top Local Tips for Positano

Car is not necessary You can get to all sites via ferry or taxi. We preferred the ferries. Easy to get to from Buca di Bacco, inexpensive, someone else does the driving and you get to sit and look at the stupendous views.

Car Parking We would advise parking in the 2nd or 3rd pasking area you come to as you travel down towards the harbor. The hotel takes care of getting your bags but we think you would be more apt to use your car if it was closer to the hotel.

weather man lies The weather forecast was wrong every day. The clouds never stayed. Positano seems to be nestled in a great spot for sun. Try to stay through a Monday when the crowds die and prices drop.
