This is not a four star hotel

My wife and I booked this hotel based on the description on the net. The hotel is not as described, but more like an upscale bugethotel. The man at the front desk was extremely rude, and argumentative, but was representative of the hotel in general. The room had no balcony (Jr. Suite), room floor wasn't clean and overall the accomodations were not as published. We decided not to check in even though we will probably end up paying for the room. Another couple was checking out as we arrived for the same reasons. I stongly recommend that you not consider this hotel if you are expecting four star quality. If you are satisfied with two star quality at a four star price, this is place for you.

Great value for money!

A group of us stayed at this hotel in early April 2004 and found it great value for 110 per night. Although Portofino is very quite and cool this time of year it was still enjoyable. We were the only people in the town in the evening. The rooms were nice but I wouldn't call them 'suites', but if you are looking for accommodation along the Italian Riveria this would be my pick out of all the places we have stayed. In fact we are going back there this weekend!
