What I would do differently If you have a chance...look into chees factory visit or tour. We did not in advance and sorry now that we couldn't make it work once there.

Christmas in Parma This might sound silly, but we planned this trip to Italy after reading John Grisham's "Playing For Pizza" which takes place in Parma. Over eight days (we traveled by car with our best friend GPS) we stayed in Parma (3 nights), Bologna (2 nights), Ravenna (2 nights), visited Piacenza, Reggio nell Emilia, Modena, Faenza and Cremona. Sorry to say we liked Parma the least. Wish we had stayed at Palazzo Dalla Rosa Prati. They are such nice people and it would have been nice to have the apartment since EVERYTHING closes for two days at Christmas. Street Markets are over-rated. Bring long underwear in the winter.Got hooked on the Pama ham and cheese.
