Nice hotel - shame about the food !

The Hotel S. Lucia is located on the main route into and out of Minori, and our room overlooked the busy street. We were entertained every night until the early hours of the morning by Italy's favourite past-time.....car horn sounding. After 7 nights we got used to the noise.
The hotel is tastefully decorated and our room was comfortable and clean. The staff were verbally helpful, but unfortunately lacked in action. One of us is vegetarian, and having read the tour operator blurb and hotel paraphanalia, we were looking forward to a varied vegetarian restaurant............which unfortunately extended only as far as omelette, cheese omelette without cheese or a plate of cheese. The meat dishes left much to be desired as well. The only respons by the hotel in respect of providing a vegetarian menu was "Tell us what you want" which when told was answered by "We cant do that" After 3 nights of omelette we ate in some of the many restaurants Minori has to offer..........these proved exceptional in quality, portion size and variety including vegetarian options.
All in all, Minori is a quiet place to escape and unwind and the Hotel S Lucia is a respectable hotel to stay but the hotel restaurant could be improved greatly.

Top Local Tips for Minori

Emerald Grotto I would skip this. We paid 5 Euro each to take the boat from Amalfi to the grotto, then another 5 Euro to go in the very small grotto for a very brief 5 minutes. It was a disappointment.

roads are an adventure if you drive to Minori you will experience not only the extreemly severe road bends and steep cliffs but also the mad driving skils (or lack of) of the italians. There seems to be no care which side of the road they drive or who goes first at a junction, so just shut your eyes and move forth!!
