Top Local Tips for Malcesine

Cable car trip If you take the cable car to the top do not attempt to walk all the way down unless you have the proper hiking boots and walking sticks. This is a steep pathand will take 4 - 5 hours. Take the cable car half way down and then it is a 2 hour walk in fairly flat paths

Rain Take an umberella even in the summer because the hotel is situated in the Italian Lakes and like the English Lake District=== it rains. But don't let alittle water put you off coming to this lovely part of the world.

keep to the north Malcesine, Limone and (to some extent) Riva were the best resorts in our view. The southern resports (eg Garda) were flat and less quaint than the other three - although we didn't visit Simione which is supposed to be chic (and expensive). Bus is a lot cheaper and quicker than bus, so it was best to get single tickets and travel one way on each - obviously the boat trips are more enjoyable - but the bus timings are not to be trusted. For a trip, go to the Dolomites - everyone says it is their highlight.
