We've stayed in the Capri every September for the past fifteen years and sometimes in spring too, and have always been fortunate with good weather. That record is in itelf a testament to our opinion of the Capri.
The Capri is family run hotel where service and frindliness of the staff are second to none. They really will go out of their way to help you in any way they can.
Star rating is three, but it really should be four. Rooms vary in size but we've never stayed in one without a lake view and balcony, and always been well satisfied with the standard. Upgrading to a 'Camera Exclusive' is well worth the extra.
The food is excellent with a vegetarian choice each day. We first chose to stay there fifteen years ago because it was the only hotel in Malcesine offering a vegetarian choice and Mrs Bergonzini personally took responsibility for our meals at that time.
The short walk into the town along the picturesque lakeside is one of the pleasures of staying at the Capri, and one should not be put off by the fact that there are some steps to be negotiated down to the road.
The advantage of staying in the Capri and in Malcesine is that the town is central to the lake making all other towns readily accessible by boat or local bus. If you decide to visit Verona the early bus is best.
I cannot recommend this hotel too highly and have stayed at hotels with a four star rating that couldn't hold a candle to the Capri. Roll on September.
