A great place to stay

I only give this hotel a 9 because of the typical european hotels shortfalls. For Europe it is a 10, especially when factoring the low cost. The reviews I read before arriving were very good and the complaints were unfounded. I did follow some advice from one of the reviews, which recommended staying in the upgraded room. Ours was very nicely appointed and had a large patio overlooking the Med. You could walk about 5 minutes or less to restaurants in town. We did not eat at the restaurant, but the morning breakfast was outstanding (try the warm lemon tart thingie) and the Americana coffee was excellent. The beauty of the Amalfi coast is unsurpassed, although driving the road up and down the coast is sporty to say the least. Highlight of our stay was a day trip to Capri. Tip: take the "jet boat" out of Amalfi and take the bus to get there (can't park anywhere near the boats). The jet boat only takes 50 minutes and saves about 30 minutes each way over the regular boat, which is well worth the 2 bucks extra. I should warn that the guy at the jet boat ticket place tried to pocket about $10 when gave me my change. Finally, the hotel staff could not have been nicer and though not great with English, they get the job done. You won't regret your stay here if you get the upgraded room (I can't speak for the others).

Misleading/unfriendly

The staff was uncooperative and unfriendly. I had an allergic reaction to something in my room-we can't change your room! The pictures were misleading-rooms were not as advertised-small, dank, air conditioning goes off each am from 6-11 am. Lose of electricity a number of times. Food was below average-coffee was good! No safe as advertised. Beautiful view is their saving grace!

Mediocre and misleading

The web-site is strongly misleading. Rooms are worn out with brocken tiles and basic furniture. Breakfast is more then modest and poor quality/exept coffee/.View is great though. The "private beach" is nice but it belongs to the near-by reastaurant and you have to pay 15Euro for the umbrella. On top of this you are not allowed to take with you even a bottle of water - you have to purchase it from the restaurant. The staff is unfriendly and ready to check your luggage. Very humiliating!!!
When you check out you have to remove your car from the parking immediatelly. You are not even allowed to keep it there till noon.
I would never recommend this hotel. Besides the suitable location and the nice view there is nothing worth there.

Nice, pleasant, comfortable, friendly hotel.
Splendid panorama of Amalfi Coast. Good breakfast on the terrazza on the upper flour. Strongly recommended!!!

Best stay along Amalfi Coast

All around excellent experience!!! Stayed a week in Maiori but visited the many cities along the Amalfi Coast and found Maiori to have the best beach, best place to relax (not too touristic/commericalized), hotel had a beautiful private beach and staff was very helpful. Best views from the hotel! Great value too! Definitely recommend this hotel!

Top Local Tips for Maiori

Stay away from tourist traps On the main street there is are two large restaurants with a very narrow sidewalk in front. Steer away from those and try you luck at one of the smaller ones in the side streets instead. You will get a quiter location and a better food for a lesser price.

No Sidewalks in Maiori Be aware travelers on the Amalfi coast. There are NO SIDEWAYS. This means that you have to hold the railing at all times and wear flat shoes, as the side of the road is uneven. This is fine for younger travelers, but for older travelers may have difficulties with this, or need to take a taxi. Cars more incredibly fast around corners and it can be quite dangerous.
