Really really beautiful, finally a luxurius hotel where u don't feel just like a number but are treated in the best possible way in one of the most incredible places i have seen in the whole of my life. It feels like living in the 1500. GO THERE (if u can...)

Top Local Tips for Garda

Isola Del Garda If you can get a tour in, go see La Isola Del Garda. This is a unique island in the middle of the lake with the most fabulous house (I want that house!).

Avoid Garda in August In August most Europeans are on holiday for the entire month. It just seemed like they were all at Lago di Garda. It's less than 2 hours from the metropolis of Milan; numerous other large cities in Italy, Switazerland, Austria, and Germany are also close. As a result there were awful traffic jams on the narrow road which winds around the lake. The wait to ride a tram to the top of a nearby mountain was over 1 hour (We didn't wait.) If you can wait, go in September. The weather is still nice and you won't have to battle the crowds.

You need a car As hotel is a couple miles form nearest towns, you need a car Avoid Garda to South. Just to the North is Torri del Benaco. A charming town with good shopping in all price ranges and excellent restaurants. San Vigilio is on its on little penninsula stuck far out into the lake and though you could happily stay put for a while it is nice to be able to go into town or for day trips to nearby Verona and Mantua
