This is a wonderful hotel. Should be more than 3 star. Small and personal yet with a big professional hotel feel. Staff very friendly. Service professional. Guests of all age groups and nationalities = lovely variety.Fantastic breakfast buffet. Rooms modern and spacious. We had cot for our 2 year old and still lots of space. All rooms look onto pool. Quiet at night for sitting on balcony but town centre just 4 minutes walk. Will definitely return.

This hotel should rate more than a 3 star. We have stayed here twice and have just returned. Met a couple of have been 11 years in a row - that says it all!! The rooms are more than sufficient with a lovely spacious bathroom - all well equipped. Very peaceful location (no traffic noise) just the sound of the birds in the trees singing during the day. Only a 3 minute walk to town centre and 5 minutes to ferry. Great pool - I can't swim but because of the lovely steps down into the pool and just gentle shelving I felt perfectly safe! Good food - only a choice of three things for each course but it was all wonderful. The best breakfast you could ever have - everything from bacon and scrambled eggs to all kings of bread, muesli, yoghurt, cereal, fruit - the lot. Waiting staff so friendly you feel like giving them a hug when you leave. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. I certainly recommend Garda as opposed to any other town as it is so central to get to Venice and the Dolomites and only 30 minutes from airport. You really must go!

I never know what to expect when I book a hotel purely from a brochure review, as I know they can (at times) be a little adventurous with the description. However, I was not disappointed at all with the Continental. I was travelling with my 8 year old son, and we were allocated a room with a terrace out on to the pool. My son was delighted and I'd definitely opt for this room again as opposed to one with a balcony. The door opened onto the small terrace (small table & two chairs provided!), then a quick walk across the grass and you were poolside. No wandering up and down corridors in a soggy swimsuit, which can only be a good thing. Whilst the rooms were basic by some standards, they were perfectly comfortable and very clean - and really, I'm not looking for more than that when I'm in such a lovely location as the room is used purely for washing/changing/sleeping. We had two single beds, which seemed to be slightly narrower than we have at home - well, there must be *some* reason my son rolled out twice!
The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the waiting staff. In fact, the waiting staff couldn't be faulted! All spoke English and were happy to explain things if you weren't sure what the menu had in store for you. Although you're limited to a choice of 3 starters/3 mains, there's bound to be something to your taste. If it can keep an 8 year old boy happy (and full!) then it must be okay. Twice we had to turn down a sweet as we were just too full up from our starter/main course. Can't be bad! There is an excellent selection of items for breakfast, from cereals and yoghurts, to scrambled egg/bacon, fruit etc.
The hotel is, I believe, family run and as such has a real 'family' atmosphere. The pool does get crowded, but that's only to be expected and is probably true of any hotel at high season. As I didn't join in the 'up at 6am to grab a lounger' game, I was happy to sit on the terrace at the room and watch from a safe distance.
The hotel is also in a great spot for making your way to the lakefront or to the nearest bus station to go further afield. Once you figure out the route (which I admit I'm hopeless at) it's no more than a five minute walk to either.
All in all, it may not be the Ritz, but it is a very comfortable, very clean hotel with a wonderful atmosphere. The staff are pleasant and helpful, the pool's an added bonus and the location is perfect if you want to be near the 'action'. I would happily recommend it, and look forward to returning soon in the near future.
