I have family in Gaeta and have been there 6 times so far...I always have some where to stay...but last year I took my girlfriend with me and felt funny staying with family...so we got a hotel room...the hotel was perfect right on the beach..and a short walk to the centre of town...the staff was great.. and very helpful.. since we got there a day early than when we were supposed to be there... and we stayed a extra day..we had to change rooms 3 times...but that was ok with us.. The food was good...but there are allot of places to eat in Gaeta....overall it was very nice...will go back again very soon and stay at the hotel again

Went some 20 yrs ago and again last October. Have relatives in Gaeta and Formia so very handy for buses etc. Excellent service, buffet breakfast brilliant (continental breakfast - breads, toast, cereals, jams, tea/coffee/milk/juice. Eat as much as you want. Do brilliant italian bread lunches if you ask for them. Own beach space, a must in summer as the beach gets crowded with italian holidaymakers. Free internet use. Room spacious with balcony overlooking beach. Everyone very helpful. Excellent.

Top Local Tips for Gaeta

flea market Make sure you are in Gaeta on Wednesday, the flea market comes to town and it is so much fun to walk the flea market with the people of the town. You really feel Italian and you might just find some great bargains

Good eating can be found in Gaeta There's a restaurant on the front of New Gaeta by the harbour. It looks out over all the fancy yachts and is accessed from Lungomare Caboto. I'm sorry but I can't remember its name but it has the word Antica above it and it looks like a chain restaurant. Walk through the car park and the party area, then through the building and out to the front. The atmosphere is very lively and the vast majority of people are Italian. It serves the best anti-pasti I have ever had and some amazing cheap wines. There is a wonderful, cheap pizzeria in the old town called Emilio's which serves some of the best pizzas I have tasted from proper wood-burning ovens. It has been going for years and I first went there in 1985. But I couldn't get in this year as it has become ridiculously popular.
