Top Local Tips for Florence

Overrated Academia and great Siena Unlike the Uffizi, there is no need to reserve (and pay the extra money) for Academia. And it is very possible that you won´t spend the whole day there. Compared to other museums, the gallery of Academia has much less to offer. Don´t discard it, because Michelangelo´s David is there, and if you are in Florence it is a MUST!. Check the other sculptures by Michelangelo on the corridor to the David. Very good. The rest, depends on what do you like in art, and how much have you seen in other museums. On the other hand, try to get an early appointment at Uffizi, because there you may spend the whole day. In the road that goes from Duomo to Piazza de la signora, there is an office where you can buy your tickets and make the appointment for the Uffizi. If you have a day to spare in Florence, take a train to Siena (one and a half hour away). Really beautiful little city that is worth to visit. You'll see there the beautiful Toscana landscapes, and will walk through nice little streets.
