Top Local Tips for Florence

Seeing the Statue of David Try to book a reservation by calling teh musuem at least 2 days prior, this will eliminate the HUGE line. We ended up spending almost 1/2 our morning in line. With reservation, you go straight to the front at your designated time. You can also do this for the Uffizi Gallery.

Watch where you buy drinks. It makes a HUGE difference to the price. Unless you are ritch or insane do not buy drinks from the places where you can sit down in the main squares of Florence. If you are sensible, just go to any back street (I'm talking 10 yards off any main square) and buy a big bottle of beer for 2-3 euros. They are happy to take the top off it for you. That same beer sitting at a table in the main square will cost you (the most I saw it) 19 Euros! I spoke to one American guy who had actually paid 50 Euros for 4 cokes at these tables!! Oh, and if you go into a supermarket you will get that same beer for less than a Euro!

Climb the tower early! Climb the bell tower early in the morning befor it heats up and the crowds come. It was annoying have to make way for the ten other people we saw when we were there, but Oh man, i can't imagine how clostrophobic/sweaty it would be with the hudreds of people in there that come by about 11am.
