A very enjoyable stay

I stayed at Orcagna when I visited Florence in Aug 03. Even though it was pretty far from the train station and we had to take a bus and walk quite a distance to the hotel, we felt that it was worth it.

The hotel staff were extremely friendly. Even though they were not able to speak very fluent English, they tried to communicate with us and help us whenever we need help. For example, on the first night, we requested for an extra blanket and the staff who was on duty that night took time and search for one for us.

The hotel stay also comes with complimentary breakfast and it was quite a good spread, unlike some other hotels which we stayed at where the choices were extermely limited and the same everyday.

Even though the hotel rooms were quite small, they were well-kept and clean.

Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel.

Top Local Tips for Florence

Make sure to wander! Instead of just plainly hitting the sights, we took time to walk around and got lost. Just walking around was a pleasure, and you never know what friendly little eatery you'll end up stopping by! This will help you claim Florence as your own, like we did!

Good lunch spot The terraza at the top of the department store in the Plaza di Republica (think the store is named Restante - it faces the arch). The restaurant is open air with a wonderful view of the city. Prices are reasonable, service good and so's the food. We had gnocchi and eggplant pannini.
