Uffizi Gallery There are ALWAYS afternoon queues it seems, so really must be best to get along EARLY!

Not only Firenze! It's possible to get out of the tourist hassle, by heading for F SMN for 4l tickets, to Pisa 9am-ish, Lucca around mid-day. Pistoia around 3.30. back to Fiorenze around 7. Trains fares for the 4 legs cost around E 12 and one arrives back with a much improved sense of the history, culture and art of the area. It can be done. Lucca and Pistoia centres are a brisk walk from the Stazione. Pisa, best catch one of the red buses. Marvellous, and puts Firenze in context.
