Top Local Tips for Florence

Uffizi a bit overrated? Maybe we heard too much hype about the Uffizi, but we felt it was a bit overrated. The building is beautiful but the art collection, while having some important and impressive pieces, would not have been worth waiting for hours in line to get in. I am by no means an art history major, but I did take classes in art history and feel I have an average tourist's appreciation for art. We were there in the beginning of October and it was very hot and stuffy in the museum which may have also limited my enjoyment of it. The Accademia, however, was fantastic in my opinion and seeing David there was definitely the highlight of my Florence trip.
