Top Local Tips for Florence

Great gelato (ice cream)! L'angolo del Gelato located at the corner of Via della Scala and Piazza Santa Maria Novella is some of the best in the city.

Language Know some basic Italian. English is not well spoken in Florence, and it is difficult to get/give information.

Museums If you intend to visit either of the major museums, have your hotel make reservations for you. Also, the museums do not accept credit cards for ticket payment...only cash. Credit cards are OK in the gift shops though. You need at least 2 hours in each museum.
