Poor Service
from A TripAdvisor MemberHotel piacevolissimo! (very pleasant hotel!)
from serendipityTNOur room was clean, well light and smelt of fresh whitened, it was very quite and extremely comfortable. A great surprise was the parquet, that I found more healthy than the usual carpet and warmer than some tile floors. The bed was one of the best I have ever slept on, new soft cotton sheets. Good idea the flat screen TV in the mirror, the audio can be heard in the bathroom too!!!
The buffet breakfast included in the price, was good and offered a wide choice of sweet pastries, juices, yogourts, high quality jam and Twinings teas. The Barman Sergio was extremely friendly and also gave us the possibility to have our drink outside in the garden to enjoy the beautiful evening, also if it was already midnight.
We didn't eat in the restaurant because too expensive, but directly in front of the hotel there is a good Pizzeria.
The hotel is very well located 2 min. walk from the central railway station and only 10 min. from the most important monuments.
We hope to go back to Florence and to find availabitly in this hotel, because it was a great stay!!!!
– comfortable, clean and quiet. Good service. Well located.
from A TripAdvisor MemberI'm baffled by some of the other remarks on here about this hotel!!??
The hotel has obiously been totally renovated recently – our room had that brand new feel and was decorated in a very sophisiticated creams, browns and burnt orange. Lovely wooden floors with 2 rush/leather trimmed mats, and thick full length window dressings. The room had very high ceilings, and a tall window by the dressing table. We had a flat screen tv (had CNN, Sky news and MTV as well as Italian channels) and remote control air-con (though I think it only goes down to 17°c). Mini-bar had selection of drinks, but only 1 sweet and 1 savory snack, I guess more nibbles would have been nice! There is a trouser press in the room, and a combination safe-box in the closet. Floor length mirrors were much apprecciated, often not provided in hotels. Also plenty of space to lay out your personal items, and a very good luggage bench, a small table, two chairs and a dressing table. Lighting was very good, varied and task specific. Well designed medium-sized room overall.
The bathroom was excellent, good water pressure, plenty of hot water, spotlessly clean. Also the bath towels were very large, thick and soft – a pink one for her and blue for him :-)
I had a nice soak in the great deep tub after a long car journey, heaven!
Housekeeping replenished everything daily and changed linen and towels leaving room fresh and clean.
The staff were extremely nice and very helpful, drawing out directions for us on maps they provide and recomending restaurants, extra pillows provided immediately on request. Was wonderful to have the free parking right there at the hotel, we arrived just as a huge downpour started and its was only a few steps from our car to the lobby.
Breakfast is included and was good, wide choice – bacon and scrambled eggs, cereals, cold meats, cheese, fruit, yougurts, croissants, fresh sweet pastries, toast, coffees, teas, hot chocolate, 3 kinds of juices.
Restaurant on premises wasn't great, pasta over cooked and not a great choice. We tried it on the night we arrived, however, the desserts were excellent! There are other restaurants just meters away though.
Sweltering room in April and staff who do not care
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe checked in late on a warm April day and noticed that the room was quite hot (85 degrees.) We opened the window and went out to eat. On our return the room had barely cooled. The Front Desk said the heat was for our room (even though the temperature in Florence that day had been nearly 80 degrees) and said they would turn off the heat. We awoke at 3:00 am due to the high temperature in the room (again 85 degrees.) No one answered at the Front Desk so I went to find someone who agreed to turn off the heat again.
The next day I complained about the temperature and was basically ignored. This is unacceptable for a "4 star" hotel. Overall the staff were unprofessional.
In addition, the breakfast was poor and there was no enough food for the number of people in the hotel.
Bad, Bad, Bad
from YogalHad a shoot in Florence and therefore had to organise accommodation for 8 people, 3 nights.
Booked the Rivoli hotel online months ago. Everytime I called they to ask about confirmation, parking, etc they never mentioned any problems. However, when arriving in Florence, the gentleman told me there have been problems with their website and therefore we had to move to the Grand Hotel Adriatico. And there it all started...
The basic mistake - gave us double rooms when we wanted twin ones. All fine, I thought - just need to go downstairs and ask them to change it. And so I did. Imagine my surprise when the gentleman refused to believe me but said: "if you want another one, then take this one". Again, these rooms were double. Eventually, after 30 minutes and after me being sent with another member of staff to "check" I was telling the truth, we all got our rooms. Mine didnt have a safe or a working tv, my colleague's safe wasnt working. Again, the gentleman downstairs, condescently told me: "impossible!! All rooms have safes. And most people just dont know how to use them!". So he came upstairs with me to "show" me where the safe was and how I should work it - "very easy!!". To keep thing short, lets just say I even felt sorry for his humilliated look as none of the things he claimed proved true. And on top of everything, my colleague's room key opened all doors in the floor!!! How safe...
Anyway, we changed rooms once again. And that should have been it. But remember the twin/double rooms situation? Next morning they were all made as double rooms instead of twins, as we had left them!! More complaints, more "impossible" comments and me, a rather calm person, losing it completely. VERY bad experience!!
Horrible: Some staff were just plain rude and/or totally unprofessional. zero on customer service. Lack of organisation.
Bad: for a 4 star hotel, breakfast was poor.
Good: the car park.
Very good, only one: the barman, Sergio. A great friendly guy.
Comfortable, clean Hotel
from TartanDThe hotel is central but not on a busy street so was quite quiet. We found everywhere within walking distance, 2 minutes walk and you are on the banks of the Arno.
The bedroom was clean, comfortable with decent shower and bath.
Breakfast buffet was adequate, you had the option to purchase additional items for breakfast but in my opinion there was enough to set you up for the day.
The staff we found to be very friendly and helpful and as a result I would not hesitate to stay here again if I was returning to Florence
Nice Hotel
from leobugmangood but not special
from iandelAll in all, our experience was positive, although there isn't really anything to distinguish the place from a better 2 or 3 star. If you are returning to Florence & already know of somewhere cheaper than this that you like, then you probably wont find this worth the extra money.
Very pleasant and comfortable.
from MrswestyHotel was about a 10/15 minute walk from the City centre. The hotel bar was lovely, nice outdoor courtyard, polite friendly waiting staff, but prices were a bit steep. We ate at the pizzeria over the road and that was really good food at a very good price. Breakfast was typical Italian/Best Western style, they use Twinings teas so the British tea craving was adequately satisfied!
Overall we found it clean and comfortable and if the price was right, and we would stay here agin.
Convenient location / good service / reasonable accomodations
from klt27Everyone was pleased with the hotel. Sergio at the bar was always good to us. I wouldn't waste your time with the hotel's restaurants though. You can find similar in the city center for cheaper.
No one had a problem with their rooms. Most were decorated as a Best Western in the USA would be except my sister and her boyfriend's - they had old charm furniture. The rooms were always clean and the bathrooms were good sized.
Hotel was a short walk from the city centre. Actually, my mom didn't think it was "that close" so that maybe the youth in me. But really, I would say it was about five city blocks. And it is within walking distance from the train station.
Top Local Tips for Florence
Bus tickets Buy one day tickets. You can then go on a smany buses as need be - both the inner city electric ones as well as other urban buses - during the day. Validate your ticket in the on-board machine when you make the first journey of the day.
Museums If one is going to the museums (Academia, Uffizii, etc.) you can try getting tickets on line, or even easier, email the hotel and ask them to get the tickets. It's a painless way to take care of the logistics and with advanced purchase tickets, you avoid all the lines. We (wife and I) loved to walk and see the locale. Waiting in line doesn't add to the experience. There's a modest service charge involved, but well worth the effort.
Shoping at Florence If you want to go shopping at Florence you better bring lots of money, restaurants are expensive and everything else
