Top Local Tips for Florence

Piazza Michelangelo For the absolute best views across Florence. Get bus no 12 from the RHS of Santa Maria Novella Station and bus no.13 back (the stop is right by the monument!). This is definitely the shortest and most direct route otherwise you go all round the houses, and if you're quick you can use the same €1.10 bus ticket as it lasts for an hour and ten minutes from the time it gets validated!

Florence is amazing!!! We stayed in this Hotel for three days in July. Hotel is near Termini. You don't have to take a Taxi. Hotel is close to all major attractions. That is probably all good that is about this Hotel. Just before the Entrance to the Hotel there is a Bus stop on a narrow side of the street. Very often you have to wait to get into Hotel. Our room was so tiny, not enough even for one person. My husband & I had to put our luggege from both sides of the bed, there was no other space. I had to remember every time I got up from the bed not to trip!!! TV was not working when we checked in and we were told that they were working on it. The problem was in a whole Hotel. We left three days later and TV still was not working. Breakfast was SO-SO, breakfast room was crowded. If you want to enjoy Florence, look for some other Hotel. !!!

Disabilty in Florence Take your disabled badge and just go up to the front of queues and ask for any special arrangements for the disabled. I was able to get in free to some places but more importantly for me able to visit without the queues. Dont forget to see when late night openings are at the Uffizi, the rooms I wanted to see were closed so was able to arrange special viewing, dont be afraid to ask
