Top Local Tips for Florence

Walk everywhere. The central part of Florence isn't that big. It's not meant for cabs or buses and when you walk you find all of the quaint little restaurants, wine bars, shops, etc. Unless you're going outside the city stick to hoofin' it!

shopping take lots of euros

Give yourself plenty of time to get lost if you rent a car! Getting around in our rental car was a absolute nightmare in Florence! The streets are all poorly marked, there are no "one way" arrows on most side streets, and we went up the wrong way more than once! The streets are so narrow, we found our blood pressure going through the roof. If we had to do it again, we would probably take the train to a smaller city and try to rent a car there. Once we got out of Florence, driving was a breeze.....until we had to return to the city to drop it back off ;)
