A Great Place to Stay

from A TripAdvisor Member
As my party of 10 travelled throughout Italy, I believe the stay at Hotel David was my favorite (aside from our visit to the relatives in the Abruzzi region)! The help was extremely accommodating (assisted with train tickets), pleasant and knowlegeable. There are several perks that other places didn't have...evening snacks and internet at no additional charge. I'd stay here again!

good choice

We went to this hotel 2 nights in november.
The hotel is well located (15 min walk from ponte vecchio or you can take a bus just closed to the hotel), very easy to find for those who arrive by car, very convenient with its free parking.
Our room was perfectly clean, well decorated , comfortable, quiet, the staff very helpful and professional and the breakfast very good.
For the price it seems difficult to find a better adress in firenze.
I really recommend this hotel.

Great Hotel Value

This is the place to stay in Florence. It is far enough away from the crowds, but still convenient. We were delighted with the service, quality of room, breakfast, etc. They offer free internet service, and a wonderful evening appetizer table served in the lobby with wine and a variety of snacks. Even free umbrellas for rainy weather.

wonderful place to stay

We stayed at Hotel David at the end of Sept. It is a great location. Its about a 10-15 minute walk along the river to the historic center of Forence. After a busy day it was great to come back to a quiet peaceful hotel. Our room was large, clean and quiet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definately stay there again.

Perfect Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
Just came back from Florence on Oct12. This hotel is perfect for the price. Got more than my money's worth for 98E triple per night. In Italy, this is cheap. Located in a shady area down the hill from Piazza Michelangelo where everyone goes for the magnificent view of the town of Florence. It has beautiful garden and parking. The hotel is accessible to bus which is only across the street. Bus D is great if you want to stop and start your walk from Ponte Vecchio to the main center. Hotel David's location is more quiet than other hotels in the downtown area of Florence where you can hear scooters and buses pass by while you sleep at night. The rooms are quiet and large, has high ceiling, beds are comfortable, smells clean, floors are clean, as well as bathroom. The complimentary snack that they serve at around 630pm is so nice. The staff, was very helpful, specially Serena, who has the great, sweet smile. She's refreshing. All the restaurants they recommended are excellent. Trattoria Beppino, which is a few blocks away on Via de Ripoli are highly recommended. This place is not your typical restaurant that serve tourists menu. Locals come here to eat!! Check it out! Get there early at 730pm or better yet get reservations from the hotel staff. I will go back to this hotel again and will recommend to all. Hotel David, you made my stay in Florence pleasurable. Thank you.

Perfect!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hotel David at the beginning of September. We had a wonderful stay, it was just perfect. The rooms were huge with a lovely tiled bathroom. They had air conditioning, a fridge and the bed was massive. The room was super clean and everything worked well. The place has so much character. The button for the shutters is at the side behind the curtain, we couldnt find it the first night! The breakfast was amazing too, so much choice. They provided snacks, wine and drinks in the evening too, which was lovely. They have free internet access which was quite handy. Its only about a 15 minute walk into the centre, but there are buses D, 23 and 13 which go into the centre and the station. Although we only took the bus once and we were tired from 5 days in Rome. Altogether the stay was great, and i recommend a restaurant called 'Baldovino', its on via san Giuseppe. It is amazing, and only a ten minute walk, book though, the hotel will do it for you too.

Favourite stay in Italy

from A TripAdvisor Member
I have just returned from a trip that started in Paris and ended in Rome. Of all the places I stayed, Hotel David was my favourite. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the central part of Florence but it's a nice walk along the river. We stayed in room 18, it was a large beautiful room with a bath/shower and it was very quiet. The breakfasts were great. There are 2 large sitting rooms on the main floor where they have wine and snacks in the late afternoon. There are lots of newspapers and magazines to read. Nice touch. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is very elegant and I would recommend it to anyone.

I recommend this hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
This June I traveled with my family ( husband, sisters, son, nephew, and 2 nieces ) to Italy. While in Florence we stayed at the Hotel David. It was a lovely, charming hotel with friendly staff, and a nice, quiet location. A short walk away was the
# 23 bus stop which brought us all into the great areas to see ( Duomo, etc.). Every evening the hotel put out wine and munchies. The staff at the desk spoke English, and were very helpful. The room was nice, the beds comfortable, and the air conditioning worked. Breakfast was good too. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Florence.

Excellent choice

from M4
Our family of 4 stayed here in June 2004. Large family room, helpful, friendly staff, and very nice breakfast. Location is across river but with fast (15 minutes) bus and taxi to city center less than a block away. Evening cocktails and Internet access a plus! La Greppia restaurant nearby is excellent.

Charming Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
My family - 2 adults/2 kids - stayed here Good Friday and Saturday nights in April 2004. We drove into Florence from the north (I do not recommend), and finding the hotel was a little tricky - streets are not labeled well in Italy! The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room on the first floor was very large- A king size bed plus two twin beds. Bathroom included a shower and was warm. We did not hear any street noise or noise from other rooms or the lobby - and we were right off the lobby. Breakfast included meat and cheese with yogurt, juice, rolls, etc. They did not charge us for hot chocolate or water. The internet access was wonderful - my husband could catch up on work matters and my teenage daughter loved instant messaging her friends. Another bonus is that they provide parking for free. The few drawbacks were minimal - there was a smell of cigarette smoke in the room and a strong smell in the lobby. In addition, the hotel is located in an area with few restaurants - although the rotisserie across the street was fantastic, as was the restaurant down the street that the hotel recommended. There are also grocery stores nearby. Finally, the hotel is located outside the historic district - but only a 10 minute or so walk along the Arno. You could take a quick taxi or a bus outside the hotel. We felt the hotel was a steal at 140 euros for a quad. We would stay there again.

Top Local Tips for Florence

duomo and shopping must see the Duomo while there - even if you're not religious - it's amazing! And the shopping - fantastic - even the markets if one can't afford the 'real deal'.....

Exploring Florence by car, think twice You can find your way around town by car, but oneway streets, busy trafic and lack of parking space makes that often a nightmare... so don't. Lots of things can easily be done by foot or public transport. Use the car only for out of town trips.
