Top Local Tips for Florence

Nightlife and Shopping Florence has a great nightlife, so come prepared to party! Everyone here is posh, cultured, and speaks English. Also, the shopping is much better than in Rome so don't wait till you get there to buy yourself some Italian goodies. The leather, handbag stores are phenomenal, especially on the Altrarno (the side of the Arno that tourists don't make it up to as frequently), so don't miss them!

Piazza della Signorina Piazza della signorina is very touristy, I'll admit. But at night, it's so lovely. We saw/heard many talented musicians, and had a couple of good meals. We loved it here.

Museum reservations- go as early as possible Do not go to Florence without reservations for the major museums. You will still have to wait in line, but not more than 30 minutes maximum, which is a whole lot better than the 3 to 4 hour wait you will face without pre-booking! The earlier the better for avoiding the overwhelming crowds.
