Top Local Tips for Florence

Best Day in Florence - All about food Take THIS tour...small group, relaxing, felt like a local as I got to see allot of places I would never have known about or found on my own since I don't speak the language. It's all about Florentine and Tuscan foods and eating traditions as well as the latest in the SLOW FOOD MOVEMENT - fresh, local, and seasonal foods. Learn about the best Italian coffess, wines, cheeses, meats - and how and why they got that way. Most importantly - feel like an insider. Visit the places the locals shop and eat. Get tips on where to eat while you are in Florence and the Tuscan hilltop towns. They tells you so much - you'll want to spend the rest of your vacation eating at all the places the gudie recommends - so fresh and fantastic. Try things you would never have imagined. Go early in your stay - you have to eat - may as well find out where and what 's not to be missed. This was truely my favorite day in Florence. Five Stars plus...

If you only have a few hours You may not have time to spend all day with the more than 1500 paintings in the Uffizi Museum, and tickets to see the David may be sold out, but you can still see a stunning example of Renaissance art in the Palazzo Medici-Riccardi on Via Cavour (and Via de' Gori). The chapel is painted with spectacular fresoes depicting the procession of the Magi by Benozzo Gozzoli. And there is a state-of-the-art point and learn video of the entire sequence of paintings where you can learn as much about the figures, the symbolism, and the images as you want. In 45 minutes to an hour you can have a great experience with one of Florence's best Renaissance treasures. Kids love this museum, too. The Palazzo is rarely crowded and you can usually walk right in. There's a good gift shop too.
