When I've been there, in Florence there was a nice weather...Althought the city was packed of toourists, on the other side of Arno river (This area, in fact, is called Oltrarno: beyond Arno) I spent 3 amazing days. Here you can easily walk without feeling ovelwelmed by the crowd...
Furthermore, you just need to walk 15 minutes to reach the Old bridge and the Uffizi Gallery.
Concerning the hotel, My friend and I we found it nice and clean and the staff kind. We booked an excursion for the main monuments: it definitely worth it!!!
