best paninis ever I Fratellini on Via dei Cimatori near Piazza della Signoria and Duomo. Walk up service for paninis and wine. The prosciutto with Tuscan salsa verde is a real treat. Also the wild boar, chingiale.
A couple great restaurants in Florence Try Sasso di Dante - Simple, friendly, reasonable prices. On a courtyard facing the Duomo. Don't miss Trattoria Icche Ce Ce - Via Magalotti 11. Family run, you feel like a guest. Excellent food at reasonable prices. Book ahead or get there when they open - they were turning down folks 30 minutes after opening.
museum reservations If you want to go to the Uffizi or Acadameia, make a reservation by phone (055.294883) or you will be stuck in a LONG line. Climbing the duomo dome is definitely worth the 6 euros and 400+ steps because you get to view the fresoes and staind glass windows up close and also get a fantastic view of Florence. I would also reccommend walking up to Piazza Michaelangelo and San Minato across the Arno. Restaurants to try- La Maremma, Osteria Benci, and Mama Gina are all close to the hotel. Others closer to the Duomo/Santa Maria Novella are La Profeta and Sasso de Dante.
