Too bad - Approdo Di Ulisse

Too bad we did not find most of the facilitites advertised. (free use of canoes, windsurfs, and other sports like archery were advertised as included entertainment)
Too bad there was not wellness center as advertised (not anymore).
Too bad the place as been built to hold 250 people and the Aurum Hotels chain has added another 200 guests making it difficult to find any facility like sunbed and Umbrella or even a place to lay on the small beach.
Too bad we had to fight to find a jug for water in the eating area.
Too bad food was of really low quality (to italian standard that is, even worst knowing we're in Sicily were good food is almost a religion!!!!)
Too bad that of the two restaurant areas, only one was working.
I could go on and on, our "cottage" was more than decent, (luckily or i would have gone to the police!!!) but it took them three days to get tv working, they had to wait for someone to check-out to take cables, decoder and remote controls, leaving the other room without so the next guests in had to go through our same ordeal until another room with the "gear" become free. INCREDIBLE !!!
As i said, to italian standards the food was very poor, the Diving center (at cost as advertised) was not existant.
MUCH TOO BAD the place has had no maintenance at all and it showed, despite the place was a classy one in the heydays, today is full of broken things, rusty metal is everywhere, deflated boats abandoned, a sick dog and a sick cat laying around, i like animals but we were with a two and a half boy and the entire resort was full of potential dangers, a very very slippery swimming pool floor.
In conclusion a just about decent place if you are adult and not too fussy, if you have kids i do not recommend it. The Island is beautiful so you can still look elsewhere.

Beautiful Island, Lovely weather ...

The accommodation and food were both poor. We had been led to believe-by an advert in the Sunday Mail that this was a 4 star hotel - and it wasn't. However, the idyllic setting made up for everything else. We made good friends with another couple and had no problems finding activities to do, on Favignana, the other islands and the main land. For the price we paid the hotel was passable - I certainly didn't feel that I could complain. After all, you get what you pay for! Some people spent the holiday moaning about their rooms, the staff, food etc. I didn't - I just enjoyed the stunning scenery, wonderful weather and friendly helpful locals.

This hotel is in a great location, isolated with beautiful scenery and together with the weather we had a great holiday. However the hotel itself is run down and reminded me of an italian Butlins holiday camp without the facilities! rooms needed a facelift and ours was slightly damp, heard of many other niggles ie bulbs missing,TV not working, and contrary to other comments we found the food very poor,i was served six chips on my plate with three mouthfuls of chicken at one sitting!waiting staff surly and uninterested, and felt there was possibly a bit of anti british bias,as italians seemed to get heaped plates. Miserable pool attendant, but a nice clean large salt water pool. Overall had a great value holiday but the hotel itself needs to sharpen up on its customer service, facilities, and staff mentality.

Have just returned from a weeks holiday at Approdo and think it was very good value for money, fantastic weather for October (28 degrees one day!) and relaxing which we needed, Sad that mealtimes seemed to be a "Bunfight" think two sittings a much more civilized way! Met some great people who all enjoyed it, but found the complex isolated and in late season very difficult to travel far with restricted buses and ferries. If you want a week in the sun by the pool. Great. If you want to see a little of Sicily, it is difficult in October. Take plenty of books etc. you will need them. Overall very good especially because of weather, many guests said they will try another Aurum Hotel!

Hello to Cristian, Rossella, Fabio, Capitano Pepe and the very hard working and helpful restaurant, bar, cleaning and reception staff. I had a very happy stay and made some great friends. The resort is great and the Island and weather just perfect. What more can a girl ask for than the moonlight, the lighthouse, waves on the rocks. Great food and good accommodation. I am back home and missing the special people I met. ....thankyou all for the memories.

Food excellent and ample. The Italian staff were great, the Italians very friendly. pity that the British, in general, were not as friendly. Good budget holiday had a great time. Would use their chain again. Much work has been and is being done to improve the grounds and surroundings. Transfers etc. included and well arranged.

Very peaceful, nothing to do. Reluctant to be too critical as aurum hotels have only recently acquired this hotel. If they intend to continue attracting the British market then they have got to cater for them. Very few of the staff speak English (and why should they) but notices will have to be in both Italian and English so that we know what is going on. Entertainment is poor and entirely geared to the Italians and is mostly conducted by the staff who seem to be on an ego trip. The grounds are in very poor condition with most of the plants dead or dying but as I said it is early days and they have time to put things right. Dining facilities are adequate unless it rains then a large part of the dining area is out of action.

Top Local Tips for Favignana

Hotel Jollie This hotel is in Palermo. It is a good holiday which affords excellent views of the sea. I shall never forget the sight of the cruise ships leaving in the dark with their lights ablaze. It was magical. This hotel is in an excellent position and there are wonderful restaurants all around serving excellent Sicillian food at affordable prices with very good wine.
