My wife and I stayed at this hotel as part of a half board package for seven nights.
Although the bedroom was small it was clean,comfortable and well furnished.
The meals were of good quality and the dining room staff were excellent and professional.
This is a family run hotel and this was obvious by the courteous and well mannered management team.
I would recommend this hotel and will endeavour to return myself when time permits

Top Local Tips for Desenzano Del Garda

La Contrada Only restaurant ecommended in Desenzano, along with Hotel Piroscafo, by Slow Foods which is the best restaurant and hotel guide written by Italians supporting the preservation of historic places and ingredients and cooking techniques. Elegant ,but simple setting. Via Gabretta, up the hill from the Hotel Tripoli on the waterfront. Wonderful service and excellently prepared menu at far better prices than other close-by and also highly rated establishments. Follow the waiters recommendations for wine, prepare to indulge in all the courses and enjoy just having a wonderfully young Italian culinary adventure.

Desenzano, You have many other choices on Lake Garda Spend your time in Sirmione or one of the other villages or towns on Lake Garda. Desenzano is small and not much to see. I could not even find a refrigerator magnet in any store or shop so I gave up. Not many good restaurants either.

Great transport service but be patient Taking the bus from Desenzano (eg to Brescia, Verona etc) is easy - right in the town centre. However, the roads can be busy even away from the lakeside, and if your bus doesn't turn up as timed, be patient - they can often be up to 30 minutes late. The compensation is helpful drivers, a chance to mix with the locals, and really really cheap fares (buy your tix from a newsagent first).
