Top Local Tips for Courmayeur

Best Italian Ski Resort One of the best places to ski. Resort is excellent food is excellent skiing is excellent. Very family orientated with loads to do. Much friendlier than any French resort and all in all 3hrs travelling time from London directly to resort.

Skiing tip I have visited Courmayeur just before Christmas in 2007 and 2008. In both years there was a huge snow dump in December. Courmayeur had a far higher percentage of lifts open than many other European resorts (especially neighbouring Chamonix which is pathetic about opening lifts before about Dec 21), great sunshine and hardly anybody on the slopes except for Saturday & Sunday (which were still very quiet especially after lunch). The skiing is not hugely challenging but it is exceptionally pretty with lots of trees and would be a terrific place to learn to ski right at the start of the season.
