Top Local Tips for Como

Flying into Bergamo (Orio)? We looked at all options from Taxi (over £100) to hiring a car. By far the most straight forward and cheapest is by bus and train. There are buses right outside the airport (very small) - as you walk to the exit there are booths selling tickets to Milan Central train station (€6.60) - these depart roughly every 15 mins and take approx 45-60 mins. You can then hop on a train for €6.00 to take you to Como.

boat trips Boat trips along the lake fantastic. Most our great photographs came from snapshots along the shoreline or when visiting the small towns along the lake. I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO STOP AT EVERY ONE OF THEM! You must visit Villa Carlotta in tremezzo. The shopping in Bellagio is a shopper's dream.

A couple of great restaurants in Como We had a wonderful meal at Le Colonne restaurant (at Albergo del Duca on Piazza Mazzini) - good food and fun atmosphere. Our waiter was so engaging and funny, he really made the meal; in fact we returned for a second dinner. All our entrees were good, from steak to pasta to pizza. We also had excellent food at the Riva Cafe pizzeria/steakhouse, at Via Cairoli 10, just off the lakefront - probably the best caprese salad of our entire trip, and the entrees were great as well.
