At first I thought the older friendly lady who takes care of you on the beach with drinks etc. was very helpful and nice. She obviously moonlights as a madame as my husband and I saw her introducing ugly Mexican prostitutes to single men. Very disgusting to see when you are trying to be surrounded with peaceful lovliness instead of seedy perversions.
The room we stayed in across the road (still considered part of Costa D'Oro) was dirty and a total dive that was right beside a bar so very difficult to sleep. Beware on this street (down the road a bit) there is a restaurant (not part of the hotel)that looks poshy and classy but the meal was horrible. Check reviews of places as this place was very busy but there were a lot of complaints to be heard)
My husband paid $30 for a supposed "surf and turf" meal that had overcooked chicken wings on it. He did not eat the meal,he preferred to go hungry.They are obviously overpricing themselves to get sucker tourists to pay gourmet prices for garbage food. We should have stood up and walked out without paying! I think we should do more of that instead of paying their ridiculous prices.
One positive thing I will say is that the restaurant directly across from the hotel is actually quite good for breakfast and lunch.
