Top Local Tips for Capri

Visiting Capri in the off-season If you visit Capri in the off-season, keep in mind that you're limited to non-beach activities, as the beach facilities are all closed during this time and the weather is not perfect for sun bathing. I recommend taking a day hike around the island - there's a path that circles around the island and ends back into the main plaza area. Also, a trip into Anacapri is nice - take the lift to the top of the hill and grab a beer at the top, overlooking Capri and Anacapri. Shopping in both of these parts of the island are, of course, fantastic - albeit pricey. If you find Capri a little tedious, take a ferry over to Sorrento during the day. You can even take a side trip into Pompeii using the train system, starting in Sorrento. Yes it touristy, but definitely do a tour of the Blue Grotto. It's beautiful and you'll probably never see anything quite like it anywhere else. Be aware that you're expected to tip on top of your fee.
