Top Local Tips for Cannobio

Those cobbled streets! When arriving at the Hotel follow the directions given when driving although it feels a bit strange driving in the pedestrian area. Then there are 2 lanes leading up to the hotel. Take the first one that is on an angle as the cobbles on the second are a killer for the suitcase wheels. Or come down to the hotel from above, although that means stopping on the main road. Once at the hotel they give you directions and a key to go and park your car free of charge.

Where to Stay if you have never been to Lago Maggiore Stay in Cannobio. The architecture is extremely untouched on the lakefront, just like it was hundreds of years ago. However, almost every building has been restored. There are many outdoor cafes on the lakefront where you can sip coffee, wine, apetif, and watch the ferry come and go on the lake. Or you can do what we did, hop onto the ferry, take it down the lake to the Borromeo Islands, get off, get on , watch the lake go by. Or you can walk the narrow streets, explore the cemetery, journey up to one of the quaint towns above Cannobio. We tried to decide between Stressa and Cannobio and a Trip Advisor said...Cannobio. He was right. Sunday morning they set up a market, sell everything from coats to underwear and socks, and tear it down and move it in the afternoon. Small town but big feel and a lakefront walk to be savored with a loved one.
