Booked with Laver holidays and brochure indicated that this hotel was near to the town. It takes around 25 minutes to walk there so this is very misleading. The food was very very poor - for example veal in tuna sauce! Whoever thought of that combination. The bread at breakfast was so hard that we had to take our own bread into the dining room. The selection of food was very poor.

There were also no armchairs in the hotel so we had to sit on hard chairs all the time or sit in our room. It seemed that this hotel was mainly used for overnight stays. There only seemed to be the 6 of us staying there for a few nights.

We were shown around the sister hotel by the receptionist that worked at the Campagna and this sister hotel. This was different again with beautiful interior and positioned on the lakeside. This was more central for a nightly walk and wander around the town.

In short we would not recommend this hotel to anyone and it is the last time we travel with Lavers holidays.

Top Local Tips for Cannobio

Wing it! Many hotels in the area don't seem to have on-line booking. Be brave and get a room when you get there. The tourist office at the ferry dock has a list of hotels with their price ranges. After the first night we stayed at the Helvatia Hotel which was very nice, super clean, and less expensive - but the management did not speak English (not really a problem, but thought I'd mention it) and they did not take credit cards.
