Top Local Tips for Campi Bisenzio

Tuscan Gem We spent a week in an apartment just outside Cortona called La Terra dei Cavalieri; it's a Tuscan farm house, one building 4 apartments and another 5 b&b rooms. Just opened this year, it's utterly perfect. Beautiful renovation of a lovely building set in fields of sunflowers. Just opened, so little known, but check out their website. Cortona is a magnificent mediaeval town set on a hillside with some great shops, loads of galleries as well as lovley deli's and wine shops. Pizza at Fufluns was sublime!

Rent a car-its cheaper! If you want to get the best out of staying here then rent a car, taxis into Florence are expensive and there is cheap (2-3 Euro per hour) parking at the Station in Florence. Also there is so much to see around the area that its worth having a car-go to Greve and into the Chianti region and also head to Pistoia (about 30kms north of the hotel) which is a much over looked beautiful old town with its own Duomo and Church and fanscinating little streets to wander around.

Rental car essential The area is remote and public transport is not great. Unless you are prepared for taxis, we would recommend you have a rental car to get around. The only caveat being, beware in Florence. They have some kind of congestion zone which is not clearly marked in English. We had no idea we had entered it until we received a fine a couple of months later for £100. A costly error! Research it before you go so as not to be caught out.
