Top Local Tips for Cala Gonone
Make sure you visit lots of beaches, but be careful when renting boats My wife and I decided to rent a Gommone, one of those inflatable boats with a rear propeller because we really wanted to explore the beaches around Cala Gonone by ourselves. We listened very carefully to the instructions given by the rental people, but eventually we found out it was a bit too much for first time sailors. We had a hard time restarting the engine at one point and I nearly lost the anchor. The next day, we returned to that same beach on a collective boat and we saw an English couple having a real hard time with their boat, since the tide was stronger on that day. I'd rent it again, but just because I already know what to expect. If you don't feel absolutely confident that you can handle a powered boat, then stay away from it.
On the Beach Watch for people selling stuff on the beaches, on one occasion there were 7 of them and they can be a pest although totally harmless, just say no and dont engage them as they will not leave you alone.
Small children This is perfect for families with young children. Beach very child friendly
