Our favorite hotel!
This was our 6th stay at the Hotel Florence.
This family run hotel has it's own unique style~
The lovely rooms are constantly upgraded & redecorated. Some have private terraces.
It is the perfect location...right at the tip of Bellagio, with magnificent views of Lake Como.
The Hotel Florence Restaurant is truly the best in town! It is superbly managed by Aron & his terrific
wait staff. The Chef's cuisine is awesome!
The Bar ~ the coolest place in town,
is managed by Tim...who is always very very entertaining, and makes our visit memorable!
Michela manages the Front Desk~
She, Elena & Cris are always warm & cheerful,
and accommodate our every need!
The hotel also has a heavenly Spa!
Schedule a massage with Daniela!
The owners & their fabulous staff are like family

Hotel Florence was my favorite place the entire trip that I just wished we were able to stay longer. The reception we received at the front desk was the warmest we had in all of Europe as they are extremely helpful with suggestions and making sure our stay was comfortable. Even the communal area was so inviting. When we entered our room, we were greeted by a plate of fresh fruit which was a nice warm touch after a long drive getting to Bellagio. The view of Lake Como from the room when we opened our shutters was breathtakingly beautiful as that's all we saw whether we looked left or right. As I laid on the bed reading the guide of things to do in Bellagio they provided, I was able to see the ferry boats pulling in and out of the docks. It seemed so close I couldn't help but wave at it. Beautiful place and worth every euro!! Apparently others think so as well as they were shooting a show right outside the hotel.

We just came back from 3 nights in Bellagio. We could not have chosen a better hotel or a more amazing town to visit. Magical is really the only way to describe Bellagio. This is the vacation you always hope to go on and it finally returns your expectations. The hotel is right next the the Villa Serbeloni so you can certainly visit that hotel if you want to but the hotel Florence is so charming that there really is no need. We reserved a suite with a balcony. The room was huge and sumptuous with designer tapestries and 4 poster bed. The bathroom was breathtaking as well, though it did not have a true shower which took a little getting used to and the hairdryer on the wall was antiquated. But for all that you will not care, it is that charming. Staff was very helpful. Our balcony was tiny, maybe 3 X 2 but to be able to open the french doors and look out on the most incredible lake views you will ever see in your life was an amazing feature to the room. The breakfast buffet was very nice in a huge room. The fireplace in the lobby was always kept blazing with great comfortable seating around it to enjoy. All in all this hotel helped make it a vacation to remember for a lifetime!

Our room here was perfect with a great view out over the lake and down on to the main street in lovely Bellagio. Furnished with a 4 poster bed and great antique
pine furniture, it added to the whole authenticity of the
area. The staff were excellent and very helpful with special note to the bar staff in the hotel bar who kept us
well watered with their lovely cocktails.
The breakfast was good with a mixture of hot & cold food
and the restaurant was full of fine local cuisine.
There's also an 8% discount for cash/travellers cheques on your room bill. Not a bad thing to say on the place, we will be back.

Tradition at its best

My family stayed here in September 2004 for a wedding on Lake Como. The hotel was beautiful, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. We enjoyed a delicious meal in the restaurant alongside the Lake and would recommend the hotel to anyone lucky enough to be visiting Bellagio. We did not pay for a "lake view", as our room was on the side of the hotel, but in fact we could step onto our balcony and see the lake perfectly. Thank you for making our stay so memorable.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Florence for 4 nights in July 9-12. We had room #7 with a view of the lake but no balcony. The rate was 170 euro a night, but Hotel Florence discounts the room 8% if you pay in cash or travellers checks which we did, which made our total 156 euro a night. A pretty nice deal. Overall, I'd say we loved our room and our experience at the hotel. Everyone there was very friendly, and they speak good English as well. The room was not huge but not small either, I'd say a decent size, with a nice pretty big closet and a nice sized dresser. Our "Queen" bed was two twins pushed together which I generally hate, but they made the bedding so well that it didn't really bother me at all. There is no air-conditioning at Hotel Florence, but there was a decent fan in the room. It was fairly hot when we visited but it was not bad at night. The sun will come right into your room during the day and make the room boiling hot. Make sure you close the shutters and the blinds or it will be an inferno, housekeeping will do it for you if you forget though.
The views from our room and any room in the front are spectacular. It's almost too beautiful to describe, but the mountains are lining the lake and the clouds in the sky are dramatic. I spent alot of time just gazing out the window looking at the view and also watching people on the street below. Be aware that the Hotel is located right on the main waterfront street in Bellagio. This is not a very busy street, in fact it only goes one way, but cars do cruise along it and for example on Saturday night, there was alot of activity on the street below with groups of teenagers hanging out until about 1am. It bothered us slightly that one night. The rest of the nights it wasn't nearly as busy, but alot of people come up from Milan for the weekend. Hotel Florence is a Karen Brown hotel which is why we stayed there, and like most Karen Brown hotels it does not disappoint. If you can't afford the Villa Serbelloni next door, Hotel Florence is a great place to stay. By the way, a great little tip we discovered is that if you want a private romantic walk at night, just walk into the Villa Serbelloni and walk along the waterfront on their property. There are benches you can sit in and there is no one there, contrasted to when we left their grounds and the waterfront in the town was packed.
Also, if you book far enough in advance, which we did not, ask for room #4 or #5, they are the rooms below #7 where we stayed and they both share the same very large balcony, we wished we had been able to get one of those rooms. There are a few other balcony rooms as well, I'm not sure what there numbers are though. Have fun!

Terrace on the Lake

If you want THE terrace to die for overlooking the main boulevard of Bellagio and lovely Lake Como, room #4 at the Hotel Florence is your place. The stunning terrace is the perfect place to order up dinner or have a glass of wine at sunset and we didn't see the neighbors sharing this stone terrace (with more sq ft than most of our first apartments) for our entire midweek stay. The suite was very comfortable with a charming sitting room and tapestry colored premium silks throughout the linens and decor. Staff at the hotel were very helpful, although the breakfast is meager and hopelessly inadequately staffed-take your morning caffeine fix elsewhere if you are in real need. The location puts you a few short blocks from all the shopping, strolling and ferry-hopping you can handle. The only real flaw of the room is a bathroom that has a window onto a rather noisy alley, only partly muffled by the two doors between that and the bedroom.

Two friends and I spent 9 days in May 2003 in the Lakes Region, 3 of them at the Hotel Florence. The location is so breathtaking that I sometimes felt we were in the middle of a movie set. What sets this hotel apart is its proximity to the lake, the boat launch, and numerous restaurants, all literally a few steps from the front door.
We loved the rooms....charming, and though they didn't face the lake, we had a lovely view of the lake from our side windows, with the snow-capped Dolomites in the distance. Another special touch was the large fireplace in the lobby, where a welcoming fire was always lit .
Breakfast was served in an elegant, high-ceilinged room, although the hot itenms were constantly running out and the wait staff was slow in replacing them. One evening we ate dinner in the same dining room, and felt it was one of our best of our vacation.
Don't leave without having a sunset drink one night on a patio across the street from the hotel.

We stayed at the Florence April 17-19, 2004. We have stayed at 2 other hotels in Bellagio in the past. This hotel has an excellent location, the front desk is very helpful and friendly, and is good value for the money. It is not a fancy hotel, however, and the front desk closes down at 8 PM at night and does not open up until 8 the next morning, so if you need any assistance during that time period, you are on your own. I am reading all these rave reviews about the rooms with these huge terraces. Yes, that is true, but there are not many rooms with these terraces and you need to plan in advance (unless perhaps a few just got lucky). I started corresponding with them in February to see about the terrace rooms. I asked for a corner terrace room, but they were all booked. We were in Room 4, which shared a terrace with Room 3. That was fine except when we both wanted to be on the terrace at the same time and they were on their honeymoon and the abundance of embracing and kissing made it somewhat difficult to ignore and carry on our own conversation. Be aware that some balconies are shared balconies. Also, we did not have a separate sitting room.
A FIVE STAR experience in a slice of heaven!!!

On May 28-30, 2004, my wife and I had the wonderful experience of staying at this beautiful and charming hotel in heavenly Bellagio. We originally booked our stay at the Villa Serbolloni, right next door and upon looking at reviews and comparing rates, we took Hotel Florence and were extremely pleased. Villa Serbolloni was almost twice the price. When we checked in, the staff person at the front desk escorted us to our room. We entered this beautiful spacious room (room#2) that had a beautiful canopied queen size bed and a door that led out onto a tremendous balcony that overlooked the main drive along the water and also overlooking the lake. We could have had a party for about 50 people on the balcony, it was that spacious. The view over the lake and mountains will take your breath away, especially at sundown. Adjoining our room was a sitting room with a daybed that also had a door opening onto the balcony. We have stayed at many 4 and 5 star hotels throughtout the world and this was as charming as any. Best of all, the price was only 250 Euros per night. The room had a beautiful and modern, large, all tile bath. The full breakfast buffet was the best we had in the 10 days spent traveling northern Italy. The staff was excellent, especially the beautiful little lady managing the front desk and the bartender who provided buckets of ice (a rare comodity in Italy) at no charge. We hope to visit this beautiful little town again and will stay at this beautiful centuries old hotel.
Top Local Tips for Bellagio
Hayfever Hayfever sufferers need to be well medicated during spring/early summer!
Villa Carlotta If you only visit one other place from Bellagio, go to Tremezzo and look at the Villa Carlotta which is a very beautiful sight with gardens which are lovely and the interior which has an interesting history telling the sad story of Carlotta who was a stunning young woman who had three children but died by the time she was 23. Her little bedroom with almost childlike furniture is particularly poignant.
dont drive! Do yourself a favor and take the train to Como then a cab to the dock and a ferry to Bellagio where you be able to walk to your accommodations. To a Yankee like me, this sounds like a lot more work than driving, but trust me- its not.

We've stayed here 6 times over the last 10 years, and it gets better & better every time. Request lakeview with terrace or balcony. The view is spectacular! Going back Sept. 06...Can't wait!
