What a lovely hotel, its position is unbeatable because from its terraces you have a perfect view of the 2 islands. You really need a car to get to this hotel, because it's half way between Stresa and Baveno and there is no bus connection. Breakfast is continental, but in high season you can also get half board (dinner). Dinner meals are simple, tasty and rigorously home made (the cook, Natalino,has been working all over Europe and he's a cooking teacher at the local Tourism High School, he told me).
Ask for a room with a view over the lake, because of the beautiful views of the islands (I simply loved them!).
Not suitable for handicapped because of the cobblestones and steps. They have a small beach too.

Round trip Take a ferry to Isola Bella, make sure you leave at least an hour and a half or so to look round the spectacular palace and gardens (NB closes at 5:30), then take ferry on to Isola Pescatori, where you can take a stroll round the island and enjoy drinks gazing back across the lake to Stresa, then take the ferry on to Baveno for an evening meal. When you book the ferries initially at Stresa, explain the journeys you want to make and you can pay for them all in one go
