The Pergola Hotel is a very friendly family-run hotel, located in a quiet street in Barga but close to all the attractions. As soon as you enter the hotel, you can feel the tranquil atmosphere. The entrance has large sofas, where you are able to relax, reading, chatting or watching the world go by. Our stay this time was no different to the others, in that the family and staff welcomed us warmly and from then on were always friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable, equipped with all the necessary amenities, and from the balcony, we had a wonderful view of the town. We mostly ate in the Pergola restaurant, where the food is delicious. A lift takes you to the large roof terrace, where you can relax on the deckchairs or take a dip in the jacuzzi. Drinks can be ordered by calling reception, and these arrive promptly. On one side of the roof terrace is a spectacular panorama of the mountainous apennine region, and on the other is a splendid view of Barga old town. This is like looking at a large pop-up postcard! We have stayed in the Pergola Hotel several times and we thoroughly recommend it.

As part of a Page & Moy group holiday we found the hotel clean and pleasant, with excellent staff attentiveness to all our needs. Well cooked and presented five course Italian evening meals, with copious local wines. A very pleasant, homey experience.

L'Osteria Walk into the old town and you'll find a square with a bar-restaurant called l'Osteria. Eat there -- its yummy.
