We booked into the Windsor Savoia Hotel which has sweeping views of Saint Francis monastery and the surrounding plains. Our room is delightful with large louvre windows and a small veranda overlooking the magnifcent scenery.Simply furniture creates a warm and cosy atmosphere. The staff were extremely friendly and it's only a short but hilly walk up to the main plaza.We ate at Pallotla restaurant which was fabulous!! Breakfast however was very ordinary.

Top Local Tips for Assisi

Look high and low... There seemed to be fewer than average places to eat and we had to walk to the open piazas to find a place. We finally found a great place in an alley-way. It was Fodor's rated and the service and food was excellent. I'll update the name soon...
